Great, now the air re-ciruclation switch or motor is making a whining sound when I switch it on! Probably have to rip most of the dash out! Any ideas? PS - Sorry to jack the thread

The note usually gets deeper after a few weeks

For a true expert opinion (sorry Nerih, no dis intended ) and the pros and cons, have a chat with Vince at Stealth Racing or Raj at NS Racing.

K&N panel filter for me. Much improved response, small incease in torque and economy too. Happy with it for

Aaah, just the stuff marriages are made from. It's usually an accumulation of the smaller things that leads to a divorce, not any one major thing. The majority of marraiges apparantly survive serious things such as affairs and violence but it's the small things like leaving the toilet seat up, nagging, clothes across the floor etc that build up and cause seperation. I'll bet most of us would replace or repair a blown/damaged engine (which is quite an expense) rather than get rid of the car. But the smaller things that some of us experience on a regular basis get to be too much after a while...

I agree but then you're removing most of the creature comforts to compete. It's not fair competition I know as the higher priced sporters are essentially that 'built to a price'. I know mine would handle and perform miles better if I were to remove items such as the AC unit, electric window motors, ICE,, rear seats etc... I think the real challenge is to build a car that retains all the comforts and still delivers the goods. Let's not forget that the CR6 engine is a heavy lump and it sits right up front which does nothing for the handling. Now the new RS4, lighter engine, alluminium wings...

LOL Mine has done the same! Did you manage to find the bulb/s? Did you get them working?

Drill a few holes in the back box

As much as we'd all love to see the Stig put a seriously modded VR through it's paces on the track, we're forgetting one thing... The Mk3 Golf chassis even with an aftermarket suspension setup just isn't the greatest to throw around a track and wouldn't do the power it's full justice. A modest performance car with a prupose built chassis and suspension setup would likely take the VR on the twists and bends.

Jez, I was feeling this very same way just last week and although it's beginning to ware off (albeit slowly) I still feel a little crap about the whole matter. Have a look down at the thread titled 'My SH*T Luck!' and you'll see why. Can't think of anything too supportive to say right now except she still manages to make me smile on the drive in to work

Panel filters - does anyone have one?
TVR6 replied to matth76's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
Matt, it never fails to amaze me how year on year these companies try to outdo each other with new products. It is true that some filters, panel or induction, are better than others and some significantly so. Clever advertising has a loot to answer for But when you begin altering certain characteristics and deviating from the manufacturers original intended spec, other ares may well begin to suffer. The original airbox, although restrictive offers a good balance between performance, temperature stability and noise reduction. When you use an open filter (induction kit) more air flows in but -
Yeah, if we thought VR6 maintenance was costly, the Integrale would make it look like a Ford. Lovely cars but as richie vr says, fragile. Loved the RS4 on Top Gear this weekend past and what a comment from JC, 'This is perhaps one of the best engines ever built'

1st thing in the morning the engine has to be warm enough to blow out the warm air. I find AC works well but the second you switch it off but the bloody mist returns!

Saw it too, soooooooperb! I think what makes this car is the lightness of the engine, the ally wings and the chassis in general. The new M3 (V8) will have a lot to live up to on its release. I thought the whole feature was brilliant and that rock climber was something else, how fast?! I sh*t myself just watching him. I have to say, I fell in love with that car from the word go. Finally, an uncompromising answer to BMW M3 syndrome. Just wish I could afford one !sad

Panel filters - does anyone have one?
TVR6 replied to matth76's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
Hey Matt I have a stainless cat back systems and a K&N panel filter and they do work well together. My exhaust is quiter than most so still allows you to hear the VRs induction note. The panel filter produces a little more induction noise than the standard filter but significantly less than an induction kit. BHP/Torque wise, their is an increase albeit small, I would say it's definitly more responsive and has a crisper note. I have used induction kits in the past only to find them overly noisy, especially on the motorway (lots of droaning) and they suffer from heatsoak which naturally affe -
LOL That's cheered me up some, sorry to laugh 28vr6 (not at your bad luck) just the thought of the VR on the patio and having to dig her out I know the world's full of people that are worse off. One of my friends wound me up all day when I told her about my recent run of bad luck. All I heard was how 'at least you have the money to put it right, it's only a car, some people don't have anything or food to eat, one of your family could be ill, I know which I would prefer...' Yes, I know all that, but in the scheme of things, right here, right now, I have my own problems and not being worse of

Unless they're in private schooling, God alone knows! Couldn't get our 5yr old daughter into any of three schools we listed and she gets allocated a place at the 'WORST' school in the borough! i.e. the only one with a good number of places left. I protest their offer and I'm told that the Council's remit does not include selecting a 'suitable' school, just a school place. We appealed and went before a panel who listened 'sympathetically' for an hour and then rejected our appeal. You should have seen the victorious smile of the council representative when her decision was upheld, made me sick, g

*SIGH* I hear you guys and thanks for the supportive words but it just gets a bit much after a while, you know? It's been one ting after another. It also had an attempted breakin over the summer and door was damaged, had that repaired and now the chains and this recent smack etc. part of me (a very large part) wants to sell up and buy something a little newer. Never thought I'd hear myself say that

So, I collect my car from the garage yesterday after three attempts at them setting the timing after having replaced the timing chains, guides, tensioner and clutch. It now runs sweeeeeeet, better than it ever did. As I pull out of the forecourt someone stops to let me through and some w*nker in I don;t know what, overtakes this guy and hit my pasenger door leaving a nice dent and scrapes. He just carries on going and I can't do a thing about it. No registration plate, nothing! I'm beginning to hate this car, it feels really jinxed! Got me 6 points within 4 weeks of owning it too x) I'm goin

Some valid and hard hitting points... Another thing that really bites hard is the fact that we have to pay extra, on top of our taxes for these implementations. Just look at the proposed ID card, we are expected to pay for that also and it could cost anywhere between

It does make you pause for thought doesn't it... Pleasure and pain principle I guess...

Perhaps a mass VR6OC joint trip might be in order

Basically, car went into a local garage for timing chains, tensioner, guides and clutch. Collected it, started her up and got a bit of a rough start, slightly high revs which settled down quickly enough and a thumping type exhaust note, a little like a quiet V8. It seemed to be missing and wouldn't pull very well. Took her back and was told that it was a damaged HT lead which they replaced (whole set) in adition to new spark plugs FOC. Went back yesterday, same thing only not as bad. Drives smoother but loss of power and still has that Harley/V8 feel/sound about it. They swear they got the tim
