  1. Let's be fair here, not all budget kit is bad. I have heard allot of good things about Gmax and I beleive there are a few members on this site who have them fitted and are quite happy with them. Granted you usually get what you pay for but that's not always the case. A local 'performance firm' to me in West London swear by H&R kits which are pricey but they also said that one of the best kept secrets is the budget Gmax kit. If you're keeping the car long term than it may well be worth investing in a 'better set', that is a set that should last longer but may not neccessarily provide better
  2. A local mechanic I use for oil changes and small repairs insist that patent parts have to reach OE quality standards. I don't know how they meet these standards, surely some kind of testing must be carried out before they receive certification? Re the GSF HT leads. They do burn out/arc fast. I bought a set a little over a year ago and within 2 months a couple fo them had started arcing. Took them back and got a refund. The guy behind the counter was honest and said 'they're crap mate, they burn out fast'.
  3. I have to agree with some of the others, not my cuppa. The cherry red is a bit much, a darker shade maybe. Perhaps it was a case of what was available at the time.

Yep, saw it also. I'm hooked! 'Tits in a jumper'
  5. This is true and they're not cheap to maintain either. The stealers give them a bad name, well, anything VAG actually... VR6matt is right, the Golf does deserve the hype. It was originally put together as VWs answer to the hugely popular E30 BMW 325i andf is a true Q car.
  6. I think it's like most things. You own it for a while and you get bored after while and look to soemthing new. I love mine but I am little bored with it. Re. the Corrado? IMO That happened after Top Gear's review on future classics a couple of years ago. They said go for the Rado over the Golf it's 'sure to be a classic' and wouldn't you know it, the prices double over night. I'm sure the same would have happened with the Golf had Top Gear made a similar comment.
  7. Quite right Nick. It's diffcicult for those not affected to get involved for several reasons, but as Nick says, a group effort by those involved (and there are enough of you) should work out. I would imagine that as a group the UK guys would support other non UK members, but there is only so much you can do without them present. Although not affected, i check this forum several times a day, hoping that there is some good news
  8. I have this problem also, feels like the idle is hunting on mine tho, it's always done if from when I first bought it. Lifted the bonnet to check the coolant last night and left engine running, noticed sparking from one of the plug lead ends. New set of leads I guess? It's just had a new set! ~
  9. and plenty of sticky tape to hold the engines together
  10. I would add, 'ask for the car', don't take it, that's outright forceful theft. You can sometimes back a person into a corner with persuasion. I was owed money a few years back by a friend (not a friend any longer) it wasn't any where near as much (£150) but he kept stalling me for months. He came home with a new PS2 (another friend told me) so I went round and asked for my money. He gave me the usual spin so I went to his bedroom, saw the PS2 and pointed to it and commented that he didn't have the money to pay me but he had a couple of hundred to by a new PS2. So I asked him for it, he gave m
  11. Sorry to hijack this thread guys but my driver side often closes half way then opens again, it does this continuously. I understand that this is a faulty regulator. Is this true? How much to replace/repair?
  12. Personally I would visit him, with a couple for friends (2 reasons, stops me doing anything silly and stops him trying anything on) I would state my case and tell him that since he didn't have funds to hand that I would take his car as my compensation and insist that he sign it over to me, log book and all. Now, don't all rush over there with the same idea. But you get the picture

    At Last!

    Welcome back old gal
  15. I agree Nick but only so long as everyone sings from the same hymn sheet. Any situation can turn nasty, it only takes one hot headed person to kick off and it spoils it for everyone. As long as everyone holds it down. Can you all vouch for each other and be sure that everyone will comply? Incidentally, I spoke with my friend who is a Detective (Police, not PI ) and he thinks that any threat, particularly on a forum can be incriminating. I once had words with a guy at my local post office becausze he refused to serve me and issue my tax disc, all because i spoike up for this old guy who tghe c
  16. Eat This, Audi have started with their new 60/40 4wd split. A compromise at least but we may not see it on the likes of the GTi or R32 for a while yet !sad Purple, The Octavia over the BMW?!?! !amazed Anyway, my original point was that you could get a fully loaded 330 for next to nothing. Each to their own I guess, but personally I'm not too bothered what people think of my choice in ride.
  17. Guys, berate me for this all you wish, after all, I haven't lost any money. But this talk of killing the guy or roughing him up, even if just a little, is crazy talk. I know you're all angry and doubtless I'd be beside myself if I was in the same position but this kind of talk could land you in serious trouble if something does kick off or the law are sniffing around this site. The fact that you've said it on this site and are planning to go down is enough (in my opinion) to incriminate everyone that might potentially pay him a visit if things turn nasty. Think about it, I'm only saying this b
  18. Drive the 330 or the 330d, if in your honest opinion it doesn't drive, perform and handle well, I'll shut up and never nebtion it again
  19. lol Guys, we're not judging the drivers, we're judging the cars There's always the 330d. Economical with sh*t loads of torque and fairly sought after. Holds its value too. I love my VR and it's in top health as is my sisters and we can both say, they're not as 'fast' as a 330, realistically they're not. But I agree about some BMW drivers and the unfair image these cars have suffered. Still, I have come across some seriously prickish GTi & VR owners too. It's all down to personal taste and all drivers of different marques look on other drivers in much the same way. lol I wonder what Chav

Oh dear, good old pleasure/pain principle Sorry dude... but not even that will take the smile of your face when you look at your new born and the VR will be born again

Congratulations m8. My little girl, Nadia, sadly came home in a Rover 400 but 5 years on she's thouroughly enjoying the thrills of VR6 motoring
  24. Dubsingh, that Hayes based Top Gear franchise has been up and running for a while now hasn't it? I've been there before, it's near Pump Lane in Hayes, unless there's another which has opened? I beleive they're a Powerflow approved dealer too.
  25. LOL it might have allot to do with your gender
