I know it doesn't help my fellow club members who have lost money but I personaly thank you all. If it hadn't been for your posts then I may well have parted with a few grand myself. Wish I could do something to help...

Hi Pammy, as Mk3Anni said, yours sounds like it has had more 'work' done on it, wereas the standard 2.9 TB although larger than a standard 2.8 TB is just that, 'standard'. It's difficult to say which would be better, the only way to tell is to fit it and see. Too late to get your money back but you can always sell it on if it's unsuitable. Not very helpfull I know. The blurb from the seller although excessive is mostly factual.

GIAC software, anyone heard of it? any good?
TVR6 replied to Caddyslammed's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
lol no, I was not being serious. Sorry, couldn't resist Pete's right, the ODB2 is the more powerful of the two versions (ODB1, pre 96 I beleive) so it's already running close to peak power. Both Stealth and AMD claim an extra 10bhp (actually AMD claim 15bhp, which is highly doubtful). Where the remap scores is that the throttle response is sharper and most flatspots are eliminated. -
Paul, there have been a few discussions regarding the auto box in the past but they might be difficult to find as 'auto' may not have been in the title. I remember a couple of posts where owners of auto's said that the auto box needed servicing/rebuilding at approx 80k miles. Have a chat with Vince at Stealth Racing, he would know for sure.

For an auto, I don't think the others will compare with the beemer. On the point that Warren made regarding the beemers taking a hammering due to being so common, surely this is a good thing for the buyer. Let's face it a 2000/2001 plate car, loaded with circa 40k miles, which originally cost

Dangerous territories how Nerih? I ask that sincerely. If it's a case of wrongful defamatiom of character or similar and it turns out to be another person on the Mazda site, then maybe. But reporting facts as they have happened, backed up in these threads then i can't see how. Unless you're referring to something we've missed?

Found a picture of my old mk1 GTI

Very, very nice... Bet you miss her sometimes... -
Never mind the sub getting beaten up m8, it'll likely damage the interior of the boot or worse still, come through the back seats if you have a head on collision, I think you can imagine the possible outcome !sad

GIAC software, anyone heard of it? any good?

Of course anything is possible, I got an extra 70bhp by using one of those resistor chips you find for -
Makes sense I spose but then launch control and plenty of practice on a manual might not be a bad thing. The auto boxes are known to give up much sooner than the manuals and don't take kindly to thrashing. Just a thought. Why the conversion on a classic car, such as the Mk1 GTi? The Mk1 GTi is a rare gem. Grab a basic Mk1 shell and convert that

I think Nick's right. Owned mine two years now and it's always done it. Stops after a minute or two.

Would it be possible, without removing the rear seats I mean? Not sure the VR lump would fit in that space. Would be great fun though, would probably pop a wheelie every time you took off

I hate to harp on and no, I don't own one, yet but the 330 is not 'tame'. Not exactly a beast either but not tame. The R32 is a lovely machine (I take it we're talking the Mk4?) but still priced allot higher than a comparable 330 which makes the beemer better value imo. If the R32 were equally priced and equally specd then there would be no question. The 330 is more than a step down from the M3 but then the M3 is a good deal dearer. TBH I wasn't a very big fan of BMW and only really ever loved the original E30 325i & E30 M3, until I drove the 330. I'm not easily impressed but have to say

Nick's right, there have been a few discussion on this. Try searching under 'oil' or 'which oil'. I have used Synta Silver and have found it to work well.
-
LOL True enough but after a while you begin to demand more for your hard earned (I do anyway) I don;t have much experience of Beemers, mostly what I have been told but have driven the 330i, 328ci, and E36 M3. I loved them all but found the 330 to be the best 'compromise'. If it's a 330, I would have to opt for the Ci sport, you'll see the difference immediatly between the rest in the range. I would prefer 4wd but do prefer RWD to FWD but then it can be handful on some cars. For the same money a similar aged S3 just doesn't cut it for me value for money wise. Now if the 330 was stupidly priced
-
Guys, I would ahve to disagree with some of the comments on the 330. The VR6 and R32 both have 'V6s' whereas the 330 has a straight 6, which means that the power delivery is allot more linear i.e. less in the way of flat spots and progressive delivery throughout the rev range. Granted they are a little common but the Ci Sport version with the facoty fitted body kit, 18" rims etc is the one (not at all common) to go for as opposed to the straight Ci or i. The Ci is the coupe, the i a saloon. The coupe looks much better, the sport more agressive and then there's always the cabrio. Been looking f

A very Happy New Year to you all and one which is healthy, prosperous and free from all VR related problems

Mine's and ODB2 (97) sits vertical also but does move up the scale progressively. The thermostat failed once and the tempertaure gradually rose to the top, so it would appear to be an 'actual reading'?

Thanks Shail, Hayes Bulls Bridge is my nearest I have used Octane booster in past cars which raises the ron rating by a few points and found it to increase torque and responsiveness, which I expect would be the same thing...

Gonna spike my drink with rohipnol and take advantage of myself !lol Having a bit of a family do which involves all the kids too. Usually good fun. And on that note, an early 'Happy New Year' to everyone!

Like i said, no one's 'blaming' the Police. I think people would warm more to the Police if they were more respecting towards people. Many are but a good many are not. I treat everyone I meet with respect and I expect the same from others, especially a Police Officer. It's a Customer Services role. It's says a lot when other officers speak badly of their own. But that's just the four that I personally know Re. the burgalary, I didn't expect anything but it really was quite pathetic to watch these guys congratulating themselves on basically aprehending the crims. Sorry guys, i realise this sh

No, use Farecla G10, it's a light cutting compound that blends and cleans the paint work. It won't take anywhere near as much paint as T-Cut will.

lol that old chestnut AGAIN No one's 'blaming' the Police. I have four very good friends on the force, one fairly high up the ranks and they like many others agree that traffic cops are a breed apart. No one can take away from them the contribution that they make to society, far from it but many of us have experienced an angry traffic cop who is hell bent on teraing you to pieces for driving 'fast', not dangerously. I had my wallet stolen once and my local station was too busy booking drunks to take my details. I was actually told 'it's not worth it mate, chances are it won't be found!' I kn
