  1. Well i have to say every day - obviously i drive 13 miles each way to work and during hat journey i overtake something so yes it does go over 5000rpms - only when everything is upto operating temperature though 8)
  2. Drroooooooooooooolllllllllll 8) Look lovely mate - i bet they are blody uncomfortable and give you a bad back though... Tell you what ill take em off your hands for £50 - you know im doing you a favour in the long run - thats what friends are for Dont mention it - no really i dont mind Pete. 3. Im hopefuly going to be hitting Goodwood again this December for the 7th time running 8) Great fast circuit which is ideal for high power fwd cars as there are lots of fast sweeping corners so traction is not really a problem. Its costing me £125 for the full day which is pretty reasonable - but considering it was £60 7 years ago it has increased slightly more than inflation Best track day ive ever attended was Anglesey in North Wales - the track/backdrop is superb - i recommend it to anyone. I bought a beaten up old Saab 900 Turbo as i had just provisionally sold my Tuned 900 and didnt wa
  4. Wouldnt happen to be off a certain Mintys car would they
  5. Think thats a bit more than a simple front end collision - more like a roll over
  6. Justin - i shall be doing the same tomorrow probably after i cleaned my car only to find my Design 90's are already suffering from salt damage - the gritters have only been on the road for 1 week so far x) They do look the bollox in black though Pete.
  7. I never put oil additives into my engine... Whats the point of contaminating good synthetic or semi synthetic oil with some 5 quid additive ?! . If they were that good dont you think the major oil manufacturers would already be onto it ?! ?! - after all they spend billions of pounds on research to produce these oils . Do a search for 'Slick 50' - there are some very worrying reports on that rubbish.... http://www.ftc.gov/opa/1997/07/slick.htm [ Edited Fri Nov 19 2004, 06:21PM ]

    Bye bye VW

The 300ZX's are great cars but im not sure id have an auto one - only ever been in a manual and that was fairly rapid but not in a frantic way. Two friends have had them - one was a mint manual tt lwb one that was very reliable but he only owned it for a few months because the prospect of it needing a 'freshen up' was daunting money wise so he got out. My other mate had a very rare swb two seater tt in red with leather and manual - this was lovely and no longer than a second generation MR2 - unfortunately he stacked it in to a tree in the damp . He bought another one a year or so later and t
  9. Personally i wouldnt touch it with a barge pole - it will just be really thick oil aditive which in turn makes you nice thin viscosity oil thick and therefore less likely to burn..... You can get the same sort of stuff in Halfords for less than a tenner
  10. Back of the queue chap - im already onto that one 8)
  11. Give it time Hiten - mine was ok for about a year then it started playing up - luckily i had an Autometer under bonnet gauge on all the time i had it so diagnosis was easy. There also prone to the 4 hex bolts that pass through the main body coming lose - a remedy for this is to fit longer bolts and place a nut on the end of each bolt to prevent them loosening - better than allowing fuel to seep over the hot engine anyhow
  12. Reducing the friction by slowing the pulley speed down will give a slight power increase at the wheels - however just lightening the pulleys wont. Some people reduce the pulley speed when the engine max rpms are increased - ie when lightening and balancing have taken place as due to the higher operating rpms of the engine and therefore where higher ancilary belts speed can lead to cavitiation on the water pump side where it is driven too quickly - in this case undersize pulleys are a good idea. Also on track based cars which can get away without high current loadings they may be usefull - on a
  13. Only one colour for cars afaic - my last two consecutive cars have been black 8) Crap to keep clean but looks the nuts when their freshly washed - just gotta get through winter now
  14. My mate just ook his MR2 tubby in for a wheelbearing and new front discs & pads and a service and it was £650 at a non francise garage!!
  15. Mate - i rate Jap cars for performance/pound but when they go wrong its not a case of a minor problem - its a major one that usually costs big dollar to fix. All my friends drive jap stuff - MR2 Turbo, Nissan 200Sx s14, GT4 St205 etc etc and whilst they are very quick and easy to mod into seriously quick cars for relatively little cost they are prohibitively expensive when it comes to replacing consumables - ie brake discs and pads and general servicing. When they break you might as well throw them away - there not designed to be repaired hence the fat that after 3 years in Japan there all shi
  16. Agreed - throttle response will be far better but i dont see how having lighter pulley will increase power at the wheels - once the inertia is overcome to spin the drive pulley up absolute power will still be the same - transmission loss is due to friction not mass....
  17. Pete - dont really understand why you will neeed new software other than to line the pockets of whoever is fitting the charger - fully programmable is more than able to cope with any blower...
  18. You can use the Dastek piggyback with any form of forced induction though Pete - why not keep it and get it remapped?
  19. I always buzz my car over on the starter a few times prior to actually letting it fire to build oil pressure - this is good practice on any engine be it old, new, turbo'd or not... Good preventative maintenance i say 8) [ Edited Sun Nov 14 2004, 07:59PM ]
  20. I thought the classic import WRX's were 280 brake ?! - probably why it felt quick then.... Tbh i think the dynamic abilities of the Scooby are great but i would never have one no matter how good they are to drive. I hate the image and the fact they all seem to be driven by ignorant twats Not really a fair comparison to a VR6 though in terms of power output - compare it to a blown VR6 - now your talking
  21. Did nights for two years when my Son was born - most weeks 6 days a week - midnight till 10am then home for 1 hours kip before getting up at 12pm to look after my Son till 6.30pm. Used to stay up and have dinner and go to bed around 9.30pm and back up at 11.15pm - a total of 2hr45min sleep a day - Nice Never ever again - i was at my lowest point ever......... Since we moved down to Sussex from Surrey i have family to help out looking after the chap and im back on days again - life is rosey [ Edited Thu Nov 11 2004, 12:14PM ]
  22. Too many variables to pinpoint unless you know what your doing.. Easiest way as mentioned is to get it on Vagcom. Warped discs will not affect the ABS and vice versa - more than likely a sensor has failed. You can resistance check the sensors with a multimeter to find the duff one...
  23. Just explain to them that you run the biggest VR6 specific website in the Uk and there rsponse will be posted in the public forums - then perhaps theyll be a bit more dignified 8)
