E36 3 litre M3 will wipe the floor with a Vr6 Corrado - still 286bhp and BMW are known for being conservative with power figures - more like 300bhp for a healthy one. My VR6 Highline was all over the back of a VR6 Corrado on the way back from Gti Festival - the guy looked a little pissed off that a 2.8 Golf was pushing his 2.9 Rado along... Another mate of mine from Tunbridge Wells has a M3 'vert pre Evo 3 litre and he will wipe the floor with my VR - dont see how it would be any different in a Rado tbh - especially if the M3 was lighter coupe version not a vert like my pals..... Also cant see
  2. I used the South East London Francise for a straight through section to replace my centre silencer on my Saab a while ago - they were very professional and had some lovely equipment for the job. I showed up there when they were busy fitting my mates full system including the downpipe to his 900 turbo and they still managed to squeeze me in even though they were under pressure 8) Dont confuse these guys with cowboys like Powerflow Pete.
  3. Hmmm - should have listened to you Rich (out of interest where did you read it??), Chap who's got my ecu has managed to remove the old chip - unfortunately the new chip carrier is impossible to mount and solder to the board due to the close proximity of other components. He's ordered a new chip carrier from RS so ill hopefully get it all up and running by the end of the week Bloody cars Pete.
  4. This was also on stock untouched virginal suspension - bit worrying really
  5. Im not too bad with a soldering iron myself except a: - it was a long time ago i did my Btec b: i havent got a fine point soldering iron and c: its surface mount technology which makes a shaky hand a bit of a problem :-)
  6. Its torque that kills boxes not bhp so i dont think itll be a problem if you look after it 8) Pete.
  7. Lightened flywheel and pulley will not affect transmission losses one bit - they will make the engine accelerate through the gears quicker as the rotating mass is lower but power is not affected by this... Its friction rather than mass thats causing the high losses (or Stealths rr imho)... Pete.
  8. The ZR2 that ive got (same as Minty's) runs around 6.5psi - this gives approx 260bhp and 230lb/ft torque, As for fuel - you should use either Super or Optimax - anything other than 95 ron unleaded really 8) - not a problem for me as i always do anyhow..... Compression ratio stays the same at this boost level so its a bolt on affair 8) I paid £1100 for the charger (s/h), £100 for a chip, £25 for a 4 bar fuel pressure regulator and its going to cost me approx £30 to get the chip soldered - Total =£1250 :! - pretty good value when you look at the small gains you get with a Schrick dont you
  9. I know of another Mk3 Gti that did this (my old next door neighbour) so it isnt unknown.....
  10. Got it all fitted up yesterday despite the pulley tensioner stud being too short due to my car having a/c - due to the larger A/C pulley this makes everything a tighter fit belt wise and therefore the tensioner stud which you use to tension the ribbed belt wasnt long enough to allow me to feed and seat the belt on all the pulley then tension the whole lot up. I had to get the belt on all the pulley except the power steering one and then prise it over before trying to tension the whole affair up. This itself proved problematical as the tensioner bolt being at the end of its thread/travel refuse
  11. Justin - my mate got a rolling pic of your but it wasnt the best - camera shake 'tastic Pete.
  12. Power at the wheels that counts - 158whp 8) Claire i DO believe my car was above Pittuf's - probably due to the huge wheel drag his Venoms created Pete.
  13. Few pics:- P.S - if anyone wnats full size hi-res copies email me and ill send you them un-compressed 8)
  14. Great weekend all round 8) Great 7 car convoy on the way home Pete.
  15. Whats even more worrying is that my car made 157.8bhp at the wheels (the figure that really counts - not the pub figure 8) ) but the transmission loss on my car was only 30bhp whereas others were around the 40-45bhp mark - if you add this to my power at the wheels then its on the door of 200bhp at the crank...... Somethings not right/consistent with the run down figures Pete.
  16. Anyway - what are you doing in front of the PC - get out there and drive it :-)
  17. Looks real nice under the bonnet - need to get the hoses colour coded now dont you mate Looking forward to Sunday for the spin 8)
  18. Right result mate 8) , How long was she on the rollers for - £70 is bleeding good - must have only been an hour or so... Whats it like on part throttle?? - and when does the charger kick in?? Really looking forward to a spin mate Pete. [ Edited Fri Oct 29 2004, 06:12PM ]
  19. Nice Mark - looking forward to them. I say - you dont fancy polishing my bracket whilst im waiting for it do you !amazed Pete.
  20. Ive got a Miltek on mine and cant fault it - fitting was easy once i got the old system off (pain in the arse ) - the sound is lovely - not too noisy but loud enough to make a difference over standard. The quality of the Miltek is superb - very neat welds and polished boxes and nice pipe bends 8) For £299 fitted i dont think you can go wrong. Supersprint are nice but very expensive - over £400 the last time i looked without fitting - some of the tailpipes leave a little to be desired to - very large and chavish - i seem to recall that John who recently had his Supersprint fittted by Tom
  21. Going to G-werks on the 8th of November mate 8)
  22. Best one i know if youve a decent internet connection (30mb) is the ZR2 charged VR6 Mk2 - fantastic car with an engine bay so clean you could eat your dinner off it.. http://www.carvisions.de/Videos/Videos.htm [ Edited Wed Oct 27 2004, 08:16PM ]
