  1. Cheers Rich for the replies, If you could get a picture that would be a great help. Went to see the company that fitted and the manager came out with "thats how they are on all golf's". i told him NO they not and i could show him a golf in the works car park that has not got the same problem as mine. Then he came out how come you know so much about the car. So had to explain that i'am an enthusiast of the VW and VR6. Anyway took him to the works carpark to show him the other golf. And comes out with "Yes your right" and i'll get back in touch with you about it. I hope Warren reads this thread
  2. Hi Riggs, Heres a picture of my problem Would it be possible for someone to measure the shaded part at the bottom of the windsreen. A picture with a ruler showing the actual amount of shaded area would be a great help
  3. Had a new windscreen fitted on Saturday as the other on was peppered. The problem is that there is a shaded are at the bottom of the windscreen which used to be about 7cm wide, on the new windscreen the shaded area is about 5cm wide. The problem is that I can now see the fixing area at the top of the dashboard, when I look from outside of the car near the wipers. I didn't notice it till I give it good once over when I got home. I gave them call straight away and was told come down on Monday with it as they wasn't sure what I was on about. I drove up on Sunday as I was in the area and the fitte

  5. Thats a top find, looks really mint form the pictures. I would love to get a 3rd car like that simple engineering no computers needed to sort things out when they go wrong, but our lass won't buy it at the momment but i'm still working on it.
  6. It seems to me that the Garage might have advised to do the clutch at the same time as the chains, but as he couldn't stretch his budget for the new clutch. Why didn't they advise about the bottom chains, it seems to me that the garage couldn't be bothered to take the gearbox out just for the bottom chains How could they have showed him "all the tensioners" when they only changed the tensioner bolt? And there's nothing wrong with haggling on the price as the saying goes "if you don't ask you don't get" Just because you knock someone down on price shouldn't mean your paying for a 3rd rate job.
  7. If you've got light scratches and swirls that show up when the sunlight hits it, or on the forcourt of petrol station. You need to have your car machine polished and detailed. These are the deatils of a detailer based in the Yorkshire area and his work, but you more then wellcome to drive up or down to see him. http://www.the-detailer.com/index.htm Contact details steve@the-detailer.com

  9. Have a look on www.phatdubs.co.uk
  10. Nice car mate. How about some crystal fogs to go with the headlights
  11. Don't they realise just because something is to the specfication it dosen't make it that thing. Theres a few MK4 GTi's in the autotrader that say they have the full R32 kit and interior. But that dosen't make it an R32 ~
  12. Meguiars 3 stage is good but will only hide the swirls for a while and you won't be able to remove any swirls with it. You will need to have the car polished by a machine to get rid of the swirls, and then learn better washing tecquiniues to prevent future swirls happening. I'll let you know when the detailing day is happening
  13. You can stil buy the wooden gear knob form the dealers but not the steering wheel. And i'm sure you can buy atomatic highlines.
  14. We used a 3 stage polish Menzerna Power Gloss,Menzerna Intensive Polish and finaly Menzerna Final Polish II. Followed by a sealent and wax by hand.
  15. Been spending some time on the detailing world to learn some better skills, so that i can wash and dress the car properly to avoid scratches and swirls.Didn't realise that there was a lot of basic things you cand do when washing the car to avoid putting swirls on. And also polishes and sealents that can be applied to bring the best out of your paintwork. Heres a picture of the bonnet with a few swirls But after a few passes with a proper polishing machine and Pro Detailer i think the pics speak for them self. The bonnet took a few hours to do as we had to start with the least aggerisive pol

  17. Can't see any pics, don't think you can upload pics from your PC unless you Premium member. You will need to get them hosted first somewhere else and then post the links

    Vag Com

The vagcom cable has some electoronics in that converts tx/rx to can, or something like that. You could buy a longer RS232/USB lead to attach the vagcom lead to make it longer
  19. The lexus lights should stay with the lexus or a jap car.
  20. I would advise you get it on vagcom as soon as possible.
