  1. my car works! started first time (after turning it over without the fuel pump fuse till the clattering stopped) ran sweet as, all the gears appear to be there, the clutch is pretty much perfect (i'll make it 100% later)...and the speedo works! anyone in maidenhead wanna come and help me put the bonnet back on? cant' really do it on my own! 2. edit - theres actually 444 of them. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=18277&item=2485498474&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW EDITED BY OLLY_K, link was putting the forum out, so i found another one [ Edited Fri Jul 30 2004, 01:17PM ]
  3. the RB5 is just my favourite variant thats all. limited edition...444 of them...RB = richard burns (wrc champ) its the best year - '99 its the equal most powerful one, equal to P1. is subtler than the P1 (which is a good thing) has 4 doors which is nice and practical (god, i'm gettin old!) doesn't have an adjustable diff AFAIK (only one that does is the newest shape WR1 - which i would get over the RB5 is i had loadsa cash for that one reason) so will understeer at low and med speeds...but be neutral at high. 5. £40 on wipers?! are you mad! how about a tenner for two new halfords ones and a bottle of rain-x.
  6. engine number has AAA on it for 2.8, and i think ABV for 2.9
  7. phone bracknell and see if they'll do you a price on delivery? worth a shot...they are that cheap! were cheaper than the above two links.
  8. the deflectors do bugger all...i had them on at one point...still lifted. rain-x is the solution...trust me, buy some today.
  9. if you're fairly local to bracknell, the bracknell tyre & batt co will be the cheapest by miles then anywhere else (nationwide).
  10. a wiper blade is a wiper blade pretty much. just avoid really cheapy brands. go for bosch if you wanna be sure. any wiper will lift at 120 plus. buy some rain-x and apply to your windscreen....then you wont need the wipers on above 40mph.
  11. bonrath do some black ones which i like (standard look). most will prefer silver mind. think the chesap ones may make the bonnet sit funny (do on mkII's)
  12. suspension is too soft when new, let alone 90k later. a decent suspension kit will help, as will eibahc or neuspeed uprated anti roll bars. you could sitck with standard susp and get the arb's...no ones done it on mkIII yet, but a few have on mkII's and its good as you keep good ride quality. ultimatly both are the way to go. also, your wishbone and raer beam bushes will be getting on a bit soon (tend to give up between 100k and 120k). i'd forget your list of mods...and get a schrik VSR/VGI manifold instead. theres one on ebay at the mo with a buy it now of £1000 which is a bargain (though its
  13. the new ones don't appear to be as good as the old toyo's...well, in the dry at least (which was always toyo's strong points). i prefer uniroyals cause with the vr6 its very important to have good longitudal grip, even if it costs you a bit of lateral grip. especially in the wet as well...i can use full throttle in first gear in the wet with my uniroyals. they may not have quite as much lateral grip as some, but are so progressive on breakaway that its mucho fun.
  14. camber or worn bushes...gotta be. get camber set then do tracking (in that order)
  15. doesn't effect it...but it may well effect your insurance, you have to declare it.
  16. lenso doesn't sound like a particularly good brand. 17" are too big IMO, and cheap ones will bend very quickly. stick to top brands like BBS i reckon.
  17. i just bought an old 'autocar' off ebay that has an article '4000miles in a vr6'...i may scan it in if its anygood. but as pete says, what do you wanna know...fire away.
  18. yeah, its too low...jack it up a bit and it'll look better (the front wheel needs to be pperfctly central in the arch IMO)
  19. not bad...not exact replicas (no km/h, and has the s3 vr6 logo, or the red bits on the rev counter and fuel guage).
  20. lmao don't do it in the car or you'll never get rid of the dust! apparantly if you drop the wheel (with airbag in it obviously) the bag can go off....i have a real urge to frisby one! lol
  21. not sure...but they're good enough to say that the car is totally standard. the rears have been replaced on mine and are boge...fronts seem original and have no markings. [ Edited Tue Jul 27 2004, 12:48PM ]
