  1. make sure you store the irbag the correct way up and use new allen key bolts if you ever refit it (thats what it says in my book). let me know if the light comes on after (even with the resisitor) will you?
  2. probably cheaper to collect them yourself...even if its 300 miles away.
  3. i just found out something today....bilsteins have integrated bumps stops, or at least the sprintline kit does, so you don't need any!!! read the instrutions to confirm. there is a poosibility yours don't as they're the lower kit. also, i found this out from a kit fitted to a nova, so some cars may be different...but it'll say in the instructions.
  4. i took the struts apart and the mounts are ok...one is just loose thats all! but i can confirm that its part no. 357 412 331A and doesn't have bearings. the only difference is the top spring seat and the bearing...so its easy to switch between the two. i believe the springs are different (smaller diameter at the top for later cars or vice versa). you'rs has prob had the bearings added with a suspensions kit (thats only came in late-type) at some stage andy...nothing to worry about.
  5. i'll swap brakes if you want by the way? (i have 280's)
  6. actually, the man has a point...they didn't tighten a bleed valve when they bled my brakes and i had the pedal go to the floor..thankfully in the car park! i only use garages for fault codes for my car usually...so thats the only reason i go there. the girlies polo is serviced as per intervals and never breaks...we take that to mill road garage and they're always superb.
  7. i'd say 25mm though there is logic in cutting the same amount off as the car is lowered...but you don't wanna leave too little there.
  8. i'm not a fan of load exhausts...i'm getting my o.e. one chromed at some point (but i'm lucky and have the early slash cut design (actually, i have a spare as well), not the twin downswept pee shooters design!)
  9. lol harper motors are ok as well (stafferton way, left after the post office)
  10. they're the ribber thingy's that are on the shock (inside the spring) a bread knife should suffice. lol
  11. late gti's got the bigger barkes as well. you'll be able to fit them back on once the pads wear down!
  12. mill lane (maybe road!) garage in caversham reading. but speicfy you want genuine vw synta silver oil and vw oil filter.
  13. every system i've heard that has the speakers running off amps has lost some of the 'warmth' of the music if you know what i mean....probably is too perfect, i mean vinyls sound great with a bit of crackle!
  14. headunit...thats the beauty of caliber components, they sound great off the head unit. i'm not big into sounds...i just like nice sound quality, which mine has.
  15. my rear bump stops are pretty much non-existant! lol
  16. i've got calbier components in the front (allstealthy, tweeter in dash, mid range in door). alpine components in rear (not very good, were in front when i bought the car, but as i don't have to sit in the back i don't care really...will get coaxials or another set of caliber components for the rare sometimes). the a JL 10W0 in boot in sealed box....sounds perfect, is stealthy, and theres plenty of boot space left. 17. well, (from the front seat passengers point of view) rear speakers aren't necesary. but a couple of coaxals in the rear sides should suffice. 6x9's don't sound very good (whatever people say, i've yet to here a nice pair...and i've heard some pretty expensive ones). also, havign shelf speakers is like putting a 'nick me' sticker on the windows. even a stealth shelf is obvious to anyone who knows anything about cars. these are just my views of course...if you're happy thats all that matters of course.
  18. well, that straight is where the start/finish is. i was thinkin more about the section from bergwerk to klostertal...though it is up hill i think. watched a mkII vid and he was flat all the way up there.
  19. no way...you need top speakers at the front...you don't really need speakers at the back. 6x9's just confuse things.
  20. i'm pretty confident this will fix the speedo. yay...i'll be able to know how fast i get upto on the nurburgring in a few weeks. (i reckon at least 140mph indicated)
  21. try cleaning it first. and its easy peesy to do apparantly (i seem to have the only vr6 with working abs...so haven't fiddled with it)
  22. woohoo...that prob means i've foun dwhy the speedo dont work
  23. i got round it by not having a stealth shelf...or shelf speakers...cause they sound cr*p! maybe use a bolt instead?
  24. i heard the later ones weren't compatibel with early shocks...which i have. and theres deffo no bearing.
