  1. well, me and lorna did argue a fair bit at the start of our relationship...prob cause we'd both been hurt and weren't so trusting (well, she had just gone to uni 150miles away)...but then we settled down a tad and now don't really argue at all. though there is the occasional hick-up, usually alchohol fueled jealousy on her side when ii speak to ex's, but that is pretty normal with most girls. i think we get on so well cause we consciously try not to upset the other person.
  2. 34mm sounds right, get a single socket from halfords.
  3. ventos aren't as popular, but i think your main prob is the auto bit. i often wish i'd got a vento instead, though my first mod would have been a golf front end! lol
  4. we've discussed this before somewhere i think...i reckon its been in an accident and the bodyshop ordered the wrong wings!
  5. yep, thats my understanding as well.
  6. you guys must be pushovers...i have no probs with my girlfirend. she doesn't need me to buy her loads of stuff either, she's just happy being with me and i'm the same. kobi, i won't say a word, but be aware that dan has been kown to glance over these pages from time to time.
  7. i don't even think theres any difference in the map either pete. usually any extra bhp an OBD2 may have is offset by the addition of air-con. but as said, the bhp differece between obd 1 and 2 is neglegable.
  8. thats pretty interetsing, i had always supected it was about that weight. is it 5 door or 3 door? i'm sure i read that someone on cgti just weighed a mkII and it was about 1050kg.
  9. well, vw ones rear ones will only last about 100k, would have thought ECP ones won't last as long. find out the cost and go from there, if theres very little difference get vw.
  10. pete, you really shouldn't need them doing with the mileage your car has, and the fact that its obd2.
  11. ok, ok, yeah they did have wooden knob, different vr6 badge (thought the vw badging was the same tho), sill protectors, black interior pillars, and solitudes, but thought the other stuff was on all late cars.

    Momo boss kits

    1) are sure its the right boss for the car, should have a bit coming out to switch off the indicators. 2) you'll get used it.
  13. you're gonna have a heart attack when you find out the price of bump stops! in ETKA they're called stop rubbers on rear, and rubber stops on front. a couple of things, make sure you're lookin on image 407-15, NOT 407-10 for front (10 is for 4 stud cars). and also, there are two bumps stops listed for rears, with the vr6 one being slightly shorter. as you're fitting uprated susp you'll need to trim about 20mm off them anyway, so just get the cheapest. don't bother with the HD ones, the normal will be fine and you don't really want stiff bump stops. bellows are just dust covers, as long as the
  14. thats weird cause they go straight on mkIV polo's!
  15. yep, they do stretch a fair bit. whilst you have it all off you really may as well replace everything...don't buy from vw, the exact same stuff costs half that price from ECP (not copies, genuine)
  16. crikey, your points are really hurting you. i pay about £500 FC and i'm 23, do have an extra years ncd, but clean licence. i'm with elephant (tip - add your mum as a second driver and it'll lower the premium)
  17. none! lol well, basically they're just late spec cars with all the options. you can get a non highline with exactly the same spec. they only come in black or mulberry, and will say highline on the log book. beware thats theres loads lare spec fully loaded vr6's sold as highlines, but they're not...not that theres necessarily anything wrong with them.
  18. well, don't replace them if they're ok. how you check is you remove the inlet manifold, coilpack, aux water pump (well, just undo it & move it out the way), cam cover, tensioner bolt (may need rebleeding on refitting), and top chain cover and have a peek inside. its pretty likely that obd1's will have almost worn through the top 'blade' runner and you have to get the box off to change this so do the lot whilst there, but on obd2's there should be very little wear.
  19. well, you could keep your eyes open for a pair of late spec wings in your paint colour.
  20. the top part of the schrick is detachable (the bit that goes onto the TB), so you can get a new one of those to fit a different obd...but they cost about £170. i think thats the only difference, but ask pete to confirm this.
  21. not just the R32, most mkIV's and beetles have them.
  22. yep, exactly. don't forget to get your camber set up properly afterwards (not a bad idea to have a bit more camber than o.e. settings as well ). you may wanna check on the condition of your wishbone bushes whilst down there as well, primarily the rear one, if the bushes so need changing you can either go for powerflex or if you decide to go for standard just buy new wishbones (will be cheaper than putting new ones in your cyrrent wishbones)...and use vw stuff as gsf bushes are crap (a mate fitted some to his mkIII TD 6 months ago and they're dead already!) apd - i think he was just talking abo
  23. i take it you mean the tyres...i always use bracknell tyre and battery company, they're prob the cheapest in the UK. you can use 195's on there, but the vr6 was designed to use 205's, and you need every bit of grip on a vr6 anyway. tyres arent the place to save money, its more important than anything else. on the subject of solitudes, i paid £100 for mine with good tyres.
