  1. seconded i'll try and dig out a part no. later if i get time.
  2. probabaly under £20 from vw, then about £20-50 for painting. or you can keep your eyes open for some on ebay, or a red vr6 being broken. not many red vr6's though...though you can of course use one from any mkIII.
  3. you don't have to remove the coilpack, but it'll be easier to get to if you do. its right near the coilpack, and goes into the upper cam chain housing, held by one 5mm allen key bolt (be careful, they round easily). symptoms when mine screwed up were serious loss of power, and very lumpy running. though it felt ok at very low rpms.
  4. you can get your foot round the clutch and onto the floor, providing you have little feet like me that is, but it would be better with a footrest.
  5. isn't 5x112 porsche PCD?
  6. yep, would be a nice addition. never knew the mk3.5 cabrio had one, got any pics of it?
  7. doesn't look too bad...though pics can be decieveing i know (my vr6 looks mint in pics but is deffo not) whats your plans apart from splitter? (different alloys, non-chav exhaust, proper badges in correct places, different headlamps )
  8. i'm not saying you cant do wheelspins everywhere if you wanna...but considering the car has 180ft/ibs -ish it truely is amazing. and form having used other tyres on the vr6 i know for a fact tyres make the biggest difference to traction on the vr6. i do agree with mark though, we have pretty good roads down here (i think you're in windsor aren't you six appeal? so similar to me)...stoke on the other hand, all the roads are like ice rinks.
  9. just make sure you get components withseparate 3-way crossovers for the front, or it'll be even more of a PITA to fit.
  10. i alwasy get weird stuff with my passenger total closure. they all close fine, but if i come back to the car relatively soon and unarm the passenger window opens half way...is bloody annoying.
  11. theres three different diesel mkIII's... - 1.9D (don't even bother, is as slow as the 1.4 petrol, 60bhp i think) - 1.9TD (ok i suppose, 75bhp) - 1.9TDi (deffo the one to go for, 90bhp and pulls well)
  12. its in the yellow circle - its pretty self explanatory how to get i off. they're only fitted on obd1 cars though.
  13. you'll know if the links snap, there'll be a banging from that area of the car. you won't be able to keep driving as it will prob trash the cv.
  14. welcome mr. ben...you got a schrick already? git
  15. lmao - nah, i just give credit where credits due.
  16. yeap, my girlfirend will clean my car (and to the same high standard as i do), and try's to help out whenever she can fixing bits. she also doesn't mind tagging along to race tracks and the like...she loved it when racing, though did get a bit worried if i didn't come round one lap (such as when i was in a gravel trap! lol)
  17. i wouldn't park it way at the end of a car park on its own...as it'll stand out and i reckon that makes it more likely that someone will fuck with it. same goes for parking over two spaces...it may piss someone off and they'll want revenge. as i said before, i try and find a space at the end of a row so i can park it right over away from the only car next to it. has to be said that the vr6 door strips (well, early ones at least) are pretty tough, so its mainly 4x4's and MPV's you have to worry about.
  18. ok, i'm gonna disagree with everyone... MY VR^ HAS TRUELY AWESOME TRACTION, even in the wet. i bet the prob with every single one of you is your tyres...slap on a set of uniroyal rallye540's and you'll be amazed by the difference. when i drove my car with michelin pilots (were on my wheel when i bought them) it had mega poor traction, then put on another set of uniroyals (my originalwheels had them) and once again i had awesome traction. to put it inot perspective, i can use full throttle in first gear in the wet no probs. also, my girlfriends 75bhp polo has worse traction.
  19. mine isn't really...but could be that i just don't hear them as i've got used to my mkII which is pretty horrific! lol
  20. i try and park it in end bay's in car parks, so i can get really close to the wall at the end to leave a huge gap to the car on the other side. at the end of the day though, my car does have a few little dents anyway, so am probably not as paranoid as most. though i seriously fear someone keying it. having said that, now i just take my old mkII into town instead...maybe you should get yourself a £90 car from ebay as well, makes a lot of sense.
  21. yeah, the gunk wouldn't have helped. i know what its like to have a hall sender problem...it takes at leats 20-30bhp.
  22. yeah, do the manual conversion (though it is a lot of work from what i hear), and the golf front end conversion then it'll rock.
  23. yeah, people (usually mkII owners) tend to think the mkIII is very heavy, but its not. in fcat i think the mkII and mkIII are the closest golfs in weight. the jump from mkI to mkII, and from mkIII to mkIV, and from mkIV to mkV is more i think. did you know that out vr6's weigh less than a bmw mini as well?! tis true, they weigh about 1250kg!
