  1. Just because something is badly fitted it doesn't necessarily make that item unsafe as a whole... I've had work done on my car before and when driving home from the garage discovered one of the wheels was wobbling because it hadn't been done up properly. Does that mean wheels are unsafe? No, it means having monkeys work on your car is!
  2. H&R wheel spacers and adaptors are TUV approved and are perfeclty safe if fitted properly with the correct bolts. Whatever make you get make sure they are hubcentric and they will be fine http://www.performancealloys.com/alloy_wheel_spacers.asp
  3. law is the tread isn't allowed to protrude past the arch... so if you look down at the arch and can see tread it's illegal. Whether it rubs will depend on what size tyres you have and how low it is
  4. Love the colour (don't want to swap for a windsoer blue one do you?!)... look forward to seeing it with the new bits on and when those rims have been swapped - only rims worse are RS4s! (just my opinion of course )
  5. is the search button not working????????????
  6. my syncro ran fine with standard exhaust and twin cats but it gained about 30bhp by getting rid of it all
  7. most shocks springs are about a 40mm drop so if you want more than that then get coilovers if not koni top adjustable shocks and eibach springs are a good option... good handling and on a softer setting are comfortable but you have the option to firm things up if you want. FK konigsports or KW are good options for coilovers
  8. If you've got a charger getting rid of the cat will make a massive difference... def do it before it's mapped
  9. Oi!! nowt wrong with LHD cars... all the best VWs only came in LHD
  10. Is it a 2.8 or 2.9 OBD1 engine and dizzy or coilpack?
  11. It was the 45 bit I was questioning rather than the 205
  12. I'm going for 195s on my TT comps just so I can get it a bit lower without rubbing... 195 on a 7.5 is hardly any stretch at all but if you already have 205s without prolems then I'd stay with them
  13. 205/45/17? what size wheels?
  14. and the PX4s come in 195/40/17 now as well which was a size toyo never did before
  15. You're probably looking at around £500... what size tyres are on them? A bit of stretch will reduce the amount you need to pull the arches
  16. Like I said contact Grant Motorsport for prices and power figures... they are probably the best in UK at n/a VR tuning
  17. at et17 I think you'll need more stretch than a 205 to fir it under the arch so the answer to your question is no... dependng on ride height obviously
  18. washed it last week... what am I going to do for the rest of the year now?
  19. It is possible... is it worth it? depends on what you want, there's cheaper ways of getting more power but if you want to stay n/a it is. Grant motorsport are the people to talk to
  20. what he said /\ Did you even check he was insured before letting him go out in it? Because in the unlikely event that the accident wasn't their fault all might not be lost
  21. All 2.8 Golf VR6s had AAA engine code (174bhp not 190bhp) regardless of year but the engine management and throttle body (and a few other things) was changed around 1995. Early cars have OBD1 later cars have OBD2. If your car is OBD1 the corrado engine will just be a straight swap if it has OBD2 you will need to change some of your loom and ecu. If you click on the link further up the page you should find pics of the differences between the 2 so you can identify yours
  22. No wonder people get confused!! Whether it has a distributor or coilpack had nothing to do with it being OBD1 or 2 there are plenty of OBD1 cars with coilpacks!
