  1. yeah something different, I used normal halfords paint on my manifold and plastics with no probs... I'm just going to try it and see I think
  2. LOL at sanky! More specifically I'm after the temperature of the top of the plastic engine covers... wondering if a product I'm thinking of using can cope with the heat or not
  3. that's very precise... did u measure it?
  4. How hot do you think the ambient temp is under the bonnet on a VR6?
  5. I thought the decision was by the Belgian stewards rather than the FIA? Either way I think the best race I've seen for ages has been ruined by this decision... Hamilton deserved the win, did he gain momentum by cutting the corner? Maybe but he let Kimi past and then outbraked him into the corner. He was only in the position to challenge him in the first place because he was driving better. Massa didn't deserve second let alone first!
  6. the red bit is just vinyl, the previous owner probably just peeled it off

what exactly did you do wrong?
  9. nice to meet you and VW mike btw
  10. There is a special tool from VW for undoing them but the easiest way is to use an impact gun
  11. charcoal filter doesn't need relocation just remove it... undo the 2 hoses, block the black one and leave the clear one open. Cable tie them together and tuck them out of the way somewhere. It's held in by a single screw. UK cars iirc don't have the air breather on the airbox that's NA cars only. Not sure what you need to drill because I don't have the instructions... but you do
  12. you just need to take off the front grill and pop the badge out from behind
  13. Or try Regal Autosport who are in your neck of the woods
  14. anything 5x100 with the right offset will fit... those, apart from being hideous, are off an A4 which I think is 5x112 so won't fit.
  15. er... if you already have a k&N then there's no need to do anything!!!! I'm at a loss as to why you'd even start a thread about de-coning an airbox that you've already removed?? *-)
  16. The airbox is the big black box with the airfilter in it Whats a K&N pod? If it's a cone shaped filter then you can't de-cone your airbox as you don't have one anymore! I wouldn't imagine you'd actually notice any difference in power or running but if you do still have the airbox and you want a better sound drill some holes (about 15mm dia) in the wing side of the airbox below the filter.
  17. heard that this morning... if it was anyone else I'd say he was taking the pi55 but he's suddenly become dutch overnight!
  18. regal is where my mate bought his and had it mapped
  19. I just had this problem with mine and it was the thermostat sticking shut. I'd be 90% sure you have the same problem. You can check by feeling the top and bottom rad hoses when the engines hot... if the top one is hot and the bottom cold then it's the thermostat or to be doubly sure take the thermostat out and see if the problem goes away. If/when you replace the thermostat I'd recommend replacing the complete thermostat housing at the same time as they usually leak when you put them back on. It cost me £64 for the parts plus about £10 for coolant
  20. I've noticed a few mk3s being broken on E38 so might be worth asking there first
