  1. My Vento VR has the incorrect pump fitted, part number starts 1J0, rather than 1H2. Hence i'm thinking that this is the cause of my problems, diagnostic machine says pump error and the handbrake light and ABS lights are on on the dash. I've looked at a couple of mates 97 VR6's (both Golfs) and both have the part number 1H2 614 217C, now does that mean i definitely need the same unit or can i use 614 217B? Appriciate your help, Nic
  2. I've got pretty much the same problem, can't remember the fault code though. I'll let you know if/when i solve it.
  3. My old VR ran a 60/40 H&R kit, never caught the sump anywhere, even on very hard driving, i was running 195/50s on 15" wheels if that helps.
  4. Got a lad on edition sorting me out now thanks.
  5. Did you see any power gains with he schrick or was it mostly a torque increase?
  6. Thanks Pete, i'll have a bit more of a browse, its probably in the premium section as i've searched using a few different key words.
  7. I've just bought a second hand schrick manifold, is it relatively easy to fit? Anyone have any instructions? Thank you!
  8. I'd sell mine tomorrow for another 190e 2.5-16 or a c36 amg.
  9. You generaly get new bolts supplied so use them, just take the top off the resevoir but remember to put it back on! Don't forget to put a little copper grease on the reverse of the pads.
  10. The more i think about it, the more i'm thinking it might be belt slip as i'm sure last night on the way home it was down on power and then when i backed off and and went for it again it was boosting much better. Perhaps with the change in weather the belts are losing friction? I hear you on the rotrex but this is just my daily driver to work so i'm reluctant to spend a small fortune to rotrex it
  11. Ok cheers, i'll get some pics up tomorrow.
  12. Yup already taken that pipe off and checked it the first time it went down to 6psi, looked fine. I think slackening and retightening the belt is beyond my capabiities unless its straight forward?
  13. I'm taking the reading from the dash guage which used to read 8psi, that in turn looks like it is fed by a vacumn type pipe which goes (from memory) from the top of the throttle body. No idea how to check for boost leaks and i've no idea of the age of the belt, it seems tight enough though.
  14. Ahh its called the recirc valve then, it's a metal VF engineering one and there's definitly tension in the spring, can i take it off the to check for the compression bit or do it on the car? As for the oil breather i couldn't see exactly where it goes but i'll have another look, failing that a vented catch tank is fine i presume?
  15. Some quick history, i bought the car with the conversion done by the lad himself and mapped and set up at stealth. It's a vortech charger running 8 psi. So far i've replaced the spark plugs, ignition leads and coil pack (all genuine) and changed the aux water pump, thermostat housing and thermostat so i'm pretty sure all the basics are right. First question, i noticed that a pipe from the top of the throttle body which i presume is the oil breather and goes to the air box was disconnected and just lying around underneath the charger, so now i've a little coating of oil over my rad, i've tem
