  1. Im at work about 10 minurtes from Halstead at the moment! I work just off the road to Sudbury Chrome plating plastic is possible but very expensive on a single item. If its in 3 parts its pretty buggered by the sounds of it! I repaired & smoothed mine (changed it a bit now though)...
  2. yeah any VR6 one will fit... you could always repair and paint it?
  3. it's just clipped on, a flat blade screwdriver wll pop it off
  4. they're not as common as the DOHC ones but they do come up on ebay and classifieds... just dont get ripped off by people selling them as rare japanese import for £40 or something as its bollards!
  5. it's reachable, removing the lower bumper grill helps
  6. both are good... I have PX4s on my comps and really like them. Have you taken the comps off then?
  7. It came pre-smoothed from the factory... in Mexico
  8. You basically need to hack a big hole in your centre console for the actual cup part to sit in, the rear part will just sit in the back of the cubby hole. I'll try and take mine out and take a pic. Ive got one in mine but mine's LHD
  9. Just get stock VW top mounts. Make sure you get the bearings as well Its an easy job to do, you don't even need to fully remove the suspension... if a garage is doing it make sure they dont take your shocks all the way off otherwise you'll need to get the tracking and camber re-set
  10. This is what they look like fitted... you forgot to do the inside of the outer casing
  11. just 6mm spacers on the rear for the centre caps maybe it's the ride height? How low is yours? Im on my 3rd sump
  12. It also depends on the offset (ET) whether they will rub or not... If you want to go low then go for 195/40/17. I had 205s on my TT comps which are the same size and they used to rub, changed to 195s and they didnt
  13. Excellent, thats what I needed to be sure of... cheers for your help I remember years ago having a problem with springs that didnt fit the shocks on my GTI but couldnt remember why!
  14. so a complete set of shocks and springs from an early car will fit a late car and vice versa but you cant mix and match springs and shocks between the 2?
  15. When you order mk3 suspension it always asks what year it is... whats the difference between early and late cars? Is it that early and late shocks and springs cant be interchanged or if you have a complete shock & spring from an early car will it not fit a late one??
  16. no worries... your choice may be limited for that price but there's loads of wheels up for sale at the moment so you should find something. Just make sure theyre 5x100 PCD with 205/40/17 tyres if its a 7-8" wheel and an et of around 35
  17. TT wheels will fit but 225/45/17 tyres are too big for a mk3. Luckily for you I have just what you need for sale http://www.vr6oc.com/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?270398.post

    What Color ?

look for a sticker under the boot carpet or on the inside front cover of the service book... chances are it will say LC9Z Get the bodyshop or paint mixer to match it with colour chips though as there are several shades of LC9Z (if it is that)
  19. there should be a bracket near the top of the dipstick tube, it bolts to the lower inlet manifold and at the bottom there is just a rubber o ring to seal it Steam cleaning shouldnt be a problem
  20. Ooh another meet in Colchester... oh wait, Im washing my hair on the 27th
  21. Yep, full alignment set up is the place to start, that's the most likely cause... worn bushes could also be the problem but get the alignment checked first
  22. toyo PX4... Ive just got a 6mm spacer on the rear so the centre caps clear the wheel bearing covers. I think TT comps look better low and tucked but could prob do with a 15mm spacer at the rear to get them sitting just right
