I won't be doing any 1/4 mile or hard starts really. Just good to know it can take it and I don't have to spend a fortune if I can get away with it.

So I recently decided I was going to start collecting the parts to turbot vr6. I am hoping to achieve somewhere around 300hp. So far I have Turbo kit t3/t4 hybrid turbo, cast manifold, electric fan, 38mm wastegate, turbo timer, (the turbo kit you see on eBay for £750 basically, minus the Intercooler and blow off valve, oil lines) And a set of 440 injectors. What power can the stock engine and transmission cope with, are arp bolts and cams needed. Anyone got any advice or recommendations.

I think next up for me is a spacer gasket and arp head bolts then I can at least crack on with the build whilst I'm waiting. One thing I was wondering is what do I need to do to the motor. Can I just use standard cams I haven't really got a clue when it comes to the specific parts needed in order to turbo it. The only experience I have with fitting turbo is changing them over on vans and cars but that's just direct swap like for like.

Was thinking of building it with the 2.9 but trying not to go mad with cost. I'm hoping for around 300bhp if possible so I won't have to change bottom end or gearbox. It was a cheap car to begin with and plan on keeping it that way before I end up thousands in debt trying to build a 600bhp+ monster

This arrived yesterday thanks to major lucky. So starting to collect parts for turbo conversion.

The car is now prepped and waiting for body shop. Only problem is my painter has a backlog of work and a holiday planned so may be sat for a while.

Sounds like the release bearing only way to find out is take it out and check it -
I remember looking into this a few year back as I was looking into putting Astra Gsi motor into a corsa. I was told I had to have a sva test done wich is basically a mot but more strict and they are done at the main visa test/training stations.

But I also like to bet a few quid in the football now and again. And so far this season it has more than paid for my vr all the work and the bodyshop bill.

Sounds more like a gearbox failure to me if it only does it 2nd. If the clutch is going you will find the car is down on power in every gear and slipping would cause it to rev a lot more. If its the thrust bearing start the car leave it in neutral and press your clutch you should feel judder through the pedal without having to engage a gear. -
I'm a Liverpool fan. It boils down to this weekend I think we can beat city then the title will be ours.

the best number plate I have seen was a guy with a supra with over 700bhp and his plate just says toy was his daily driver.

Badly painted brakes. I hate having to file down a carrier and caliper cos some idiot has put 2 inch of bright yellow paint on causing everything to seize up.

I tried them last when I was running an accord type r but I got cheaper quotes else where. Might just try them once the golf is back on the road.

Bit of a small update I have finally had half hour to myself and my new air sander arrived. So I locked myself in the garage after work and made a start on the prep work. Will take a while as I only get half hour if that to work on it. But bit by bit it will get there.

Could you not make some kind of deal with you doing the prep work on the car. I was quoted over 2k to get my bodywork and paint sorted (full respray). But when I had a word with the guy at a bodyshop (friend of a friend). If I do the prep work myself it only works out about 500. Or failing that try and source parts in your color.

Might also be worth checking your wheel bearing. Are you hearing a wining noise at all getting louder when building up speed.
