  1. That was a nice but of luck I'm fortunate myself that I have quite a few friends/contacts as I'm in the trade myself. My sills where done by a bloke who I know who restores classic cars think I paid £40 but I always end up giving him more to get a few drinks.
  2. My coilovers where eBay ones and they are very stiff but Its my second car and going turbo so want it to handle.
  3. There is a guide on here somewhere for the sump I haven't done it myself yet but need to do something so I don't smash my sump in.
  4. You can also raise the engine using hockey pucks on the mounts or swap the sump for a shallower r32 one.
  5. Be careful when going low as I wound mine down on coilovers and hit my sump driving onto a 4 post lift. I have since raised them its just finding the right balance.
  6. Do I win half a sticker for putting a pic up of half a car.
  7. Your more than welcome to come pick it up weekends are best for me I'm located in Stockton on tees so not that far away. If you have a hoist would make loading it a lot easier. Drop me a pm and il send you the adress.
  8. I still have that 2.9 block in my garage I got off you if that's any good i haven't even had time to look at it yet.
  9. You can actually see in the picture both me and the Missus holding our arms above our face thinking please don't take a picture.
  10. When every was staring at me getting out of the corsa in car park I kept saying out loud to the Other half can't believe my vr6 turbo ain't ready. I want a sticker for my corsa that says I have a vr6 honest
  11. Haha can't believe they took a picture of my corsa with beat up front end I was hoping no one would notice me in it.
  12. Yeah the one with gold/ copper wheels was a really dark purple that went bright with the light looked really nice. I kept looking at a gap in the stand and thinking wish my car was there. There is always next year and it will be done properly by then.
  13. I loved the paint on the purple Rocco that was gorgeous
  14. I saw a guy masking the full front end of his golf yesterday which I thought was a bit weird. But then everyone started doing it apparently it was to protect the paint from scratches on drive home. I don't see the point a car should be driven and not wrapped up all the time
  15. I just said out loud ooh look 3 door I like 3 doors. Then the other half dragged me off saying no you have a golf finish that one first.
  16. I popped by the stand a couple of times but couldn't see anyone was a good show some nice cars
  17. Bit more paint on today this time the drivers side.
  18. Thinking of getting mine converted has anyone done this and could anyone recommend somewhere to fit it.
  19. Looking forward to this bit gutted wont be in the vr6 but looking forward to seeing some nice cars.
  20. Wanted to see what my car would look like when it's finished so temporary fitted my new front bumper and inter cooler. Also not the new wing fitted in primer and green door ready for paint.
  21. The only way to learn I think is to actually do the job. I was going to try and rush the car and get it ready for harewood house and I could have sent the car to several specialist I know but that's not what I wanted. I want to be able to put a little sticker on it when I'm done that says built not bought. Plus it's a rolling cv for me and could possibly bring new customers into my works.
  22. I'm using 440cc injectors that I got with my turbo. Not too sure on the short runner as for me it was an expense I didn't need. My project is all about keeping cost down and just to test myself to see if I can build it. I'm fortunate that I work in a big garage so there is room for me to store my car all my tools are there and my mate is a smart repairer so he is doing the paint. It's kind of become everyone's project now even my fiancée wants to work on it with me
  23. I will be running united motorsports software they have off the shelf stuff for what I'm aiming for. But they only work with obd2 so works out a lot cheaper for me my obd swap was 100 and the setup is 400 from united motorsports. Dread to think what stand alone would cost.
  24. I haven't got round to actually building mine yet so still in the research phase myself. I'm not going with forged rods etc... I am fitting a spacer gasket to lower the compression as I'm aiming for around 300hp wich I am told is doable with pretty much standard internals. I will be removing my engine to fit the gasket as I want to convert the car from obd1 to obd2 think it would be easier with the motor out. Then it is just a case of bolt the turbo and manifold to the engine then plumb everything in.
