  1. It could just be the shaft jumping about as its turning if its work and not sat correctly they can feel horrible. I have driven a few that feel like a wheel is going to fall off or engine is about to drop out.
  2. Get yourself in the bay have a look at the mount for any wear. Also try and physically move the engine see if there is any play.
  3. I'm running a power flow middle section, scorpion oval back box and a cheap decat I picked up off eBay. Makes a nice noise not to loud to annoy the neighbors on idle and loud enough to put a smile on your face when you plant the loud pedal.
  4. If you full lock the car and creep forward should hear a grinding/clickin noise coming from the wheel. Then your cv joint has gone. If the boot is split it will have gone dry and possibly got dust and crap in wich is not good. Not too bad to change the cv itself but its a lot easier just to replace the shaft.
  5. If I do rebuild mine I would build the block up outside the car like yourself. And fit it over winter.
  6. Are there any benefits from swapping a 2.8 for a 2.9 if your going down the turbo route. The reason I ask is I have a 2.9 bottom end and my car I already obd1 wich from what I can gather makes it compatible with the 2.9.
  7. It could be the previous owner only did one side or it could be that one is binding. Just make sure everything is clean and free and the pistons are moving freely.
  8. Cut springs to run low was the previous owner gas monkey garage.
  9. Will see you there if my car ever gets finished. Also my cousin is trying to get his car ready for the show its a mk2 g60 with lysholm charger. That thing is stupidly quick.
  10. Think it's in June can't remember plus there is the vw gathering this year in may I think.
  11. Can't beat having friends like that. I jut got let down by my mate who was supposed to refurb my wheels so now I have I learn how paint. Hoping the car will be sorted in time for Pickering show as I used to live there so it's an excuse to catch up with old mates.
  12. Re checked coolant level toady amd evrything seems fine. Everything is sorted mechanically on the car just needs cosmetics.
  13. I have also just been informed by one of my mates from work a smart repairer. That after servicing his v6 vectra and putting front end back together after a bump. Plus I also fixed his van (wich he needs for work). That he now doesn't want to refurb my wheels moral of the story fuck everyone else and you will have time to do your own thing.
  14. I paid 100 and got k+n induction kit with maf spare isv pair if bumpers and the wheels and few other bits and bobs. Turns out my cousins wife used to have a vr6 years ago and their shed was full if bits. As for the tyres completely lucky that someone bought a car from the showroom next door and wanted new tyres so I got the old ones with plenty of life left in.
  15. They are replicas but they where more or less free with 2 good tyres and had 2 part worns laying about the workshop so bonus.
  16. The arch has had a bad knock at some point and the rust is starting to kick in that's why I want it in the bodyshop ASAP. Just need to source a trim piece for it looks like il have to go to main stealers for one. Can't decide if I want the wheels anthracite or vw gloss black pearl.
  17. They say the turn into their mum eventually
  18. Unfortunately that's normally the case when working on a family members car. I remember fixing one of my cousins cars I replaced half the exhaust every single break component pipes, shoes, pads even the compensator valve. I spent a week staying back after work in a dark garage with a dodgey back. I never charged a penny labor only the main parts at trade discount showed him all invoices. I even loaned him my spare car for a week to get to work. My car came back with a smashed rear light and he told everyone I over charged him and ripped him off. Moral of the story don't work on family cars or
  19. Bit of an update heater matrix has been replaced. Exhaust blow has been fixed. Off to the bodyshop at the weekend to make a start on it. Thought I would test fit my other wheels to see if I liked them and they fit ok before I get them returbed.
  20. It will sit funny if only one side is lower mine looked like that when I lowered it I did a side at a time.
  21. Working in the motor trade myself I can kind of understand where the garage is coming from. We have to tell a customer not to drive there car if something is seriously wrong with it. We can't force them not to drive it but it covers our back if the customer has an accident we told them not to drive it. I wouldn't give up not for the sake of niggly little jobs it will be worth it in the end when you get to drive it again.
  22. I might be raising mine tomoro if I get a chance will get some pictures for you
  23. Hose grip pliers couldn't think of the name. That's what I used. Something like this.
  24. I used a pair of Long nose pliers but they curved at the end perfect shape to grab hold of the base.
  25. Ok so whilst my car is sat in bits with the dash out. I remembered that the lights on my clocks where very dim could hardly see on a night. Does anyone know what type of bulbs and where to get them from as I might aswell change them with the clocks already out.
