I'll clean anyone's engine if they can get it to me lol The gearbox cleaning guide: Engine degreaser and some old paint brushes Keep pasting it on and get as much off as possible Then I got some small wire brush attachments for the drill to get into the nooks and crannies. With a dry paint brush got rid of dust etc Masked off what I didn't want silver The. Sprayed it using hammerite silver smooth spray paint. Then clear coated it using petrol resistant laquer. Then the bits that are black are also hammerite smooth but obviously the black one.

Right got quite a bit done over the weekend seeing as it was red hot. The engine has been in and runs got to ultimate dubs and back with out any issues. Apart from scraping the sump all the way there and back. (sparks were said to be seen) :/ Now I know it's running then engine is now put, gearbox has been degreased and painted all looking nice a fresh now Engine block is painted all new gaskets through out. Dented chassis leg, so I can raise the engine Now prepping the engine bay for its actual colour IE not cream but OEM black as it should be Pics to come when I finally get on my lap

I took it off because I'm painting the engine block, and yes the head is spotless inside and out which is why I took it off didn't want to get any black paint on it. 22 and foolish I'm 21 but I'm sensible and have a house which is why the mk2 is taking a while damn should of gone uni and got a loan lol

Haha I'm not sure what you've heard about me don but I'm not actually in to thongs lmao more of a French knicker man myself. But anyway haha if I could afford to get the head done with big valves and new cams etc I would but not this side of summer the head was rebuilt before I bought the engine anyway, I just want to enjoy the car over summer whilst saving for super dooper charger

That's good news then they all move the same amount. I'm putting it down to what looks like the head gasket near cylinder 1 as there seems to be oil coming from a oil jet :s

Yes mate. I dunno what's up with it. It ran dog rough when I first started it up due to the maf. But once it was fixed it ran fine but it just seems like it has lost its go from low revs. All the timing was lined up fine etc. I suppose I should have done a compression test before I took the head off. :/

Basically I'm stripping what I can off the block so I can paint it up etc now I took the head off and all looks fine now blown gasket however, if I press firmly on all the pistons I can get them to move a tiny amount in whatever direction. Is this normal? The bores look spot on. But I had noticed it to be a bit bogged down from low revs.

I would like to just have an input for the people thinking £10 is still a lot of money. Over the past 2weeks I have bought a gasket set coolant head bolts oil and filter. And have saved well over £55. Money well spent in my eyes -

When I installed my poly bushes they were a beach to put back in I got the lump hammer involved, with a lot of swearing. It worked but I also fractured my thumb. -

I have an earth from bonnet to the wing, then one from battery to chassis and chassis to gearbox. Then there's a group of wires with a few earths on under the inlet manifold on the engine block.

Well that somes that up then. what about neuspeed pulleys? As you can get them from awesome gti.
