  1. http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?4227315-3-sensors-in-the-thermostat-housing...2-questions... Not sure how to do a link on my phone but that explains what they do
  2. Yh that's what's in mine, obd1 no air con. Mines dizzy type not coil pack obd1.
  3. Strange I don't have air con and I have no brown plug at all just a blacking grommet. :/
  4. this is what i thought, youll need a solinoid or popper as there sometimes known. i have little knowledge on this as i have never owned one but i did look into it when i had a mk3
  5. blue is for the ecu, brown is for air con, and yellow is for the temp gauge on the clocks
  6. right here some pictures to keep you interested, im currently putting tyres onto my cookie cutters as the bbs ra are too small and i scrape the sump everywhere so i made two 20mm spacers up at work to raise the engine so i can remain pretty much on the floor. this is a 17mm socket and yes the sump was this low too :/ during spraying the engine covers satin black just a cheeky little one a quick taster of where the wheels sit inline with the arches and those are g60 arches, might have to get my camber on i love playing hide and seek with a hard looking monster, i really do feel sorry for an
  7. Right so after fitting the correct relay 53 instead of 72 the car now runs smooth and revs with no hesitation, it also starts first time from cold. I hope this helps people
  8. Been reading a few posts of yours, I have just done a mk2 vr6 using obd1 and I had similar problems Mine wouldnt start first time and ran dog rough and the strong fuel smell strange idle etc so I decided to take a look at the fuse box etc. when ignition was on all but one relay clicked. After a bit of research it turned out to be the heater control for lambda which I'm guessing powers the lambda probe. Mine had relay 72 but it should of been relay 53 as soon as relay 53 was in the car started first time and idled and ran smooth as anything. Hope this helps
  9. I'm also obd1 and the car will not start or run without the maf plugged in. Hope you sort it.
  10. Is it obd1 or 2 ? If it's 1 check maf is plugged in, isv. Throttle body plugged in? Just trying to think of all things inlet related. If its turning over then the starter must be working and if your sure there's spark then there getting power so I would say the battery move seems ok. Have you earthed the engine at all through the gearbox?
  11. Yh try 109 that powers ecu and a lot of other things. I think the lambda heater control which is connected to fuel pump etc. could be your solution if you have used the vr ignition. Oh a doubley make sure all connectors are pushed in the fuse box fully.
  12. Yep you'll need Relay 109 but I don't think the car will run without it. So I'm guessing you have it. Sounds like a possible maf as obd1 cars run and cut out with out it plugged in or working. Also did you use the keys etc off the vr as most vr6 have immobilisers built in it was only the super early ones that didn't have them.
  13. Right I have had a few issues with the mk2 vr6 mainly it not starting until at least 3 trys. Replaced ignition switch etc still. No joy, then i was back to the relay I posted a picture of in my build thread. It has number 72 on it well after some digging I found it should be 53. So I tried it and bobs your tea pot it now clicks on ignition but yet to see if it runs as I'm awaiting a few more new goodies. Main question what does the heated O2 relay do, is it the power source for the lambda ? I will post up results soon so anyone having problems can find this in the search.
  14. Built both of mine but if I was going to buy a vr which I think a rado is next on the cards. It needs to be pretty much standard with low mileage no or little rust and black leather seats I would love a storm grey one but I have only seen one. So I'll be waiting for a year or two
  15. Bit of a thread revival but did dint see the point in starting a new thread when the search brought this up and it's exactly the same problem as I'm having. Did you find the issue in the end as mine just spluttered and almost died getting to work.

    HELP!!

Yep that belt drives power steering, water pump, aircon. What a complete cock he needs sacking from green flag or sending on a course. If your car requires a head skim and gasket I would send them the bill. I feel gutted for you pal.
  17. Wow yh been a while since I have updated this. The engine is in and works and pulls very well, the Octavia Vrs was not expecting me to still be in his boot at 120 lol. Then because it is slammed so much it caught cats eyes. I cracked the sump on a man hole cover. so I'm gonna make some engine spacers and see if that helps as I can't afford r32 sump set up yet. But I shall get pictures tomorrow I promise. I just need to decide on wether I keep the cookie cutters or buy 928s. The interior I'm thinking corrado heated leather. Oh and god it sounds immense and pops on downshifts lol
  18. Loughborough was pathetic. Not even a decent covering.
  19. Lol that made me chuckle. It's all about et (offset) and the brand of the wheel from what I have read.
  20. Ideally I want 16x7 and 16x8 on my mk2 hence why I'm interested in craigs 928s. At the minute I'm on the standard 14s and there far too small
  21. With craggsy it's good enough for the touring car golf it'll do in the mk2. But as said I see a few more mpg over the lower grade.
  22. Ahh if numbers are needed then there will be no less than me and the misses so just +1 for now.
