    The software is free, unfortunately you need the £250 official cable to use it properly.

    You can jack the pulley side of the engine up to clear the chassis leg and get it in and out that way but it makes the job more fiddly than it needs to be. The amp rating should be fine, check the Ah on your battery, it'll probably be about 60.

    It does sound like an air leak yea, have you unplugged the maf and driven it about to see if it still does it?

    Does your bottom hose get hot?

    If that's the case then it sounds like your thermostat is stuck shut or your radiator is blocked, thermostats are cheap to replace but you can test them by boiling them in a pan of water and seeing if they open up.

    The engine number is also stamped on a machined flat part on the block near where the tensioner bolt goes. You want to know for sure? Just take the top chain cover off and have a look.
