  1. You can disregard the HG bit I've just read you are planning to go spacer gasket.
  2. To run a spacer you need the multi layered metal head gasket which you then split and sandwich the plate between the two outers
  3. Have you looked on eBay for any items? I eventually found a victor reinz HG on there and some people have had luck at euro car parts too. Probably a good place to look for ARP bolts too
  4. To prime you steer from lock to lock loads of times
  5. It's banded steels, so they have to be a neon colour, everyone does it so I assume it is like a law or something
  6. If you aren't gonna be taking the head off every month then get a set of elring or febi head bolts from euro car parts for like 25 quid. Yea that VW tax is massive!
  7. Good news with the brakes they are a right bugger on the mk3 I had the same thing with mine, then like you say more and more driving made it better and better
  8. a genuin gasket will be victor reinz, it will just have VW tax on top of the price
  9. sign up to be a full member and theres enough info in the knowledge vault that youll have no issue, i followed them for mine and had no problems.
  10. mobil1 10/60 new life (or whatever they call it) ?
  11. not sure on organic clutch, havent looked into it myself, theyre supposed to be stronger but feel like stock arent they. Standard choices are VW obviously, sachs, luk, valeo. I think VW use LUK mostly in their gen kits.
  12. If youre going to have it in bits again in the future if you have FI plans then ARP are going to be worth the money as they are re usable, otherwise a set of elring or febi headbolts will suffice for about £20, a genuine set is about £120! If you can find a victor reinz headgasket outside of VW get it, otherwise go to VW for the gasket too. Youll need at least an upper inlet manifold gaskets and 2 exhaust downpipe gaskets too, depending on where you split them. It would be a good time to do the water pump, crack pipe and oil cooler pipes, if not the oil cooler too. Its also the classic
  13. Pretty sure the stock clutch can hold 300nm

    Wobbly seats

after like 20 years the originals ill have worn away, new ones should tighten the gap tolerance up again
  15. Yes they do but it could be just a shagged pump, the shaft could be wobbling etc, take the ht lead cover off and unplug the aux pump, then see if it's still there, 5 min job could narrow it down quickly.

Yea you can get replacement plastic runner clips
  17. If it doesn't do it when stationary then something is moving around under load
  18. The berg cup arches look good are you gonna be using the splitter too?
  19. I even thought about getting a set and scotching them for a duller brushed effect.
