Yea just had a quick look on ebay and is 40 quid for plugs so may as well take the bullet, any recommendations for plugs? Its all worth it when it runs though.
I actually hate the stock coil pack. I got a new one about 4 months ago and already im having missfire problems again. Im just wondering if it actually is the coilpack though and maybe it could be my plugs or leads. Anyone had missfires and found it to not be the coilpack. Due to the fact i need the car i sometimes have to drive it for about 15mins missfiring and then suddenly it clears up. Also what are the cheap alternative to the platinium plugs as i dont want to fork out 90 quid and find they are okay.
For some reason my ecu plug does not have that wire. I thought they all used the same , my car is OBD2. Also just found out that some of my grounds are not there. Could this be because of the conversion or maybe because the car is obd2 ?
As per the title ive just chopped up my harness to find that im missing one pin from my ecu harness. On the wiring diagram ive found i need to wire into pin 28 but for some reason it does not exist in my harness.
For those who are running megasquirt on coilpack do i have to take off the standard control module or can i just rewire the plug? What size are the stock injectors? Also what is the base timing? Thanks for the help in advance!
As others have said look forward to seeing this m whats making you go with 42mm bodies , also are you going to fit a smaller radiator to allow more space to the head. Good luck with the build!
I know this company does , may also be worth checking the import cost. http://www.powerspeed.co.uk/ Also there is a video on the Qtec website showing how fast it opens and closes.
I have to say im a tad confused about this different runner length. Did VW not themselves make it so that due to port sizing and flowing that although they are different lengths when it actually comes out of the head it all flows the same. Also if you look at the first part of the cast intake the ports are about 2mm larger on cylinders 1/3/5. Maybe thats how they balanced them from factory. I was thinking of making a set of butteryflys for after the first cast bit so can retain stock fuel rail and use what im presuming is the factorys way of balancing the cylinders.
I had one before as well , i imported it from america QTEC. Looked well made and was electric so you can run it half open or fully or closed. Can buy them in UK now but maybe cheaper still to get it imported.
Problem is with your MAF you would need a connecting pipe so you can run just one. Also lots of good power levels with single inlet manifold. I looked at making a box one myself , the main problem to overcome is the lack of space in the engine bay. Heres a quick picture of the old one i drew up not finished, now doing another completely different one.
I guess its not the switch if its the same with both! Didnt think of that. The other option would be to try swapping the motors before you buy a new one , dont know how hard that is to do.
