1000 steady miles, not going above 3000rpm, always checking oil/coolant levels. After that change oil and filter and refill with good oil, then give it some beans!
As promised pics of yesterdays mods. And todays cleaning and polish! Raised the rev limit and it feels good! Put it up to 6500rpm soft limit, 7000rpm hard limit. Held boost fine, just can't get higher than 0.5 bar of boost, so needs playing with before billing.
But i started with a vr, so why sell the engine an buy an r32? Its different because its a mk3 golf, vr, r32 4wd, original engine for the car. I like the way the 12v vr engine behaves, and its far simpler than the r32/36 lumps.
You could brace the rear of it up, as there is no strength there, and thats were they fracture! http://media.photobucket.com/image/02a%20release%20bearing%20pivot/rocketeer928/Jetta%20Modifications/2009-09-ZZM.jpg
Yeah i think the standard clutches can handle quite a bit of abuse, but the weakest point would porbably be thrust bearing carrier, the pressed piece of tin, beef that up and it will handle abuse alot better!
