cheers people.. turns out im an idiot and one of the leads felt like it was on but wasnt on at all!!

hi all, just finished doing my head gasket on the vr and its missfiring, sometimes on start up its fine and i can be driving for 10-15mins then it will start missing, also after 3-4k it clears up but other times it misses all way thro revs? i have fitted new leads and coil pack so can rule them out.. any help would be appreciated.. could it be timing or not? cheers guys.

anyway of checking the cooler or jus a case of gettin a replacement?

I have visually checked the cooler and looks fine but no way of telling if its doing its job. And the oil pressure is at 3-5bar so im assuming the oil pump etc..are ok aswell.?

was using 10/40 from vw.. it ran ok on it for quite a while tho.. altho was bit tappety now and again but once it cooked the oil the oil temp rose too bout 140 after bout 10mins.

hi all, a while ago my vr overheated its oil and was leaking coolant and was really rattley (tappy) on the top end. only just got around too checking it out. Thought it was headgasket but upon removing the the head the gasket was fine..? have found a small leak from one of the oil cooler-block pipes.. i am going too replace the headgasket and get head skimmed now that i have removed it.. but i cant think of why the engine was rattley? could the oil just have been knackerd and this is wat caused the noise because im stuck for suggestions otherwise? any help/pointers would be helpfull thanks!

I had this problem.. could be a few things.. on mine it turned out ther was a short circuit between the sender and clocks.. rewired it and no more light or buzzer.

the pipes are soft as normal.. temp is normal aswell.. The is just black and the level has gone up by quite a bit.. but isnt creamy.. however i havent ran it for more than 10mins since the problem started.

no.. no mayo. just getting really hot..

Cheers guys! lol. lost about a litre of water..but no leaks. dipstick is showing just above max..seems to have gone up (possibly water?) coolant temp stays at 90, oil does look manky aswell now. yeh just standard engine

yeh maybe lol.. but they didnt give another possible reason.

hi all.. new problem for the new year! great! lol The vr recently broke down on me.. engine cut out and would not start..smoke pouring from engine..near the oil cooler. I hadent noticed but my oil temp gauge was reading around 150! Car now starts but top end sounds really rough and oil temp climbs to around 130-150 within around 10mins of starting up. Also water in dissapearing sumwere..(no leaks) i am wondering if the water is mixing with the oil in the cooler? any help would be most helpfull1 cheers guys
