  4. Wicked! We all still defo on for tomorrow evening in winchester? Been packing and loading the car up, and even though i've got no back seats, its easy to run out of room my car! :-)
  5. Congratulations Chris! You look very happy!! Hope mother an baby are doing well. Whens he getting his first vw then? :-)
  6. The stem seals should come with the head gasket kit. And yes if you ask them they should be able to do it all, at a price though, would be cheaper to do it your self.
  7. Yep tonys written up a guide, and like he said, no real need for ramps. 9 hours is bloody steep! Or get tony to do it and feed him beer! :-)
  8. Might not be your clutch mate. Have a look at the pedal, see if you notice anything like a white piece of plastic pushed through the pedal, or if the master cylinder has moved because 1 or 2 nuts have come loose.
  9. Most places will want the head striped- cams off, tappets out, and valves and springs off. The cams come off by undoing the 2 m8 nuts on each cap, think theres 6/7. The tappets just pull out, but number them so they go back correctly. And the valves will need a spring compressor tool, and same as above, pair and number the valves and tappets up. When you rebuild the head, you will need to lap the valves back into each valve seat. And use new valve stem oil seals. When the tappets/cams go back in, use plenty of oil in oil ways and metal to metal surfaces.
  10. EP80w, transmission oil, which is just standard oil for the box. Check out http://www.opieoils.co.uk/product-finder/car/engine-oil/volkswagen/1997/golf/PETROL/golf/38663/product-finder-2.aspx, very helpful website, and fast delivery.
  11. Don't think it for child safety, not on the drivers window mate! Its either the switch or something to do with the mechanism.
  12. Well done mate, sounds like you had fun! And my misses vr does that, the windows got a mind of its own. But yeah, you'll be stripping the car next and doing a full re-build!! :-)

  16. Mate, that is a bloody good looking corrado! That colour and those wheels, with the brakes sat behind them look mint! Almost makes me want 1...might just leave my greed at jealousy though!! :-) Good luck with the project, and keeps us updated ;-)
  17. I'd use semi synth oil, i do in mine, but i can't remember wether its 5/30 or 10/40, so not much help really! Ngk plugs all the way, standard leads will be fine, filters are fine what ever make really, and use quality gearbox oil if you change it. Might be an idea to change all the coolant/fluid too.
  18. Can you not peel back the door card on the top corner above the lock to get into the mechanism in the door?
  19. Nice 1 mate! So if i break it, you could fix it? :-)
  20. Hope its nothing serious? But yeah, can't bloody wait! Convoy to billing, only 1 week away! :-)
