  1. Does sound like you need your tracking done. N/S front always wears more due having it round islands so it gets much more abuse than the offside. Also i donno if anyone else has notest this but if mine wheel spins its normaly the N/S
  2. Hello. Ive got a new car so I thought id post some pics up of what ive done to it. Some before and after pics... The day I got it back from london. Its rust free and got no dents. Theres a few little dings NUFF stone chips the odd scratch but doesn't look bad.. Its a 1.8 driver at the moment and cost me £700 Few days later and I added the coilovers off my old VR, Mk4 headlights, Removed that red line on the bumper, painted the fogs, removed the rear boot spoiler, badges, wiper, fitted my debadge grill, smooth boot plinth and single wiper Then off with the old pooey nail 4 stud dru
  3. ah shafted mate. Do you know what happened yet?
  4. I don't understand! ive watched petrol prices rise 3p over the past few weeks? Is that not tax but the petrol stations upping there prices? What realy pisses me off is theres nothink we can do. I wonder if the amount of people that drive off without paying has increased.. Thing is hardy any of them get caught for it and petrol stations account for 3 or so drive offs a day
  5. without the car moving? Does the coolant hoses get harder after its been driven?
  6. white smoke from the exhaust even after its hot--- loosing water with no signs of leaks---gauge moves when stationary. More than lighty your head gausket is gone
  7. u can't say how much its going to cost without knowing whats wrong with it lol... Only other thing that can leak round there is the head gausket but if you say its pissing out its probaly going to be the water pump
  8. mines done 140,000 without having them done. Sounds smooth but its problay missing all the rivits now lol. Bet there in a right state lol
  9. Could be going out the exhaust... Does your coolant pipes get hard after a long drive.. Temp gauge doesn't move atall? Ive got a 1.8 mk3 atm and loose about the same amount of water. My head guakets gone between the coolant and cylinder bore causing it to pressureise the coolant system and guessing some coolant gets burned up aswell.. So check if your coolant pipes are getting hard Check all your coolant hoses for leaks Check your head gaskets not leaking visably thermostate housing heater matrix Lots of things can leak mate but if you can't find any then it could be your head gasket
  10. Does sound nice... Is there any reason to do this over just buying a vortex?
  11. Id have one already if I had the space.. The ones with the extra wide wheel base are wicked
  12. drive it afterwards?... Theres no reason to avoid is there
  13. good good, how much do you think this cost you?
  14. What we saying? Fast? reliable? Seems like a good idea to me
  15. Ive put 5 stud vr6 brakes on 2 mk3s and at the moment im half way though reshelling my VR6. Car im using to reshell is a L reg 4 stud 1.8 Im having to change the pedal box which is extra work... Not hard tho. Just take your time.. What engine is in your cab? If you pop the bonnit u will be able to see if theres a cable going to the top of your gearbox
  16. Yer you need all the brakes off your donour car.. It realy is as simple as remove rear axal. then swap for 5 stud vr6 axal... Bolt it up and plumb it into the brakes system, Also need to change handbrake cable Remove front subframe and replace with vr6 subframe wishbones hubs brakes brake pipes ect ect. everythink from the donor Them looms clocks fuel pump engine gearbox drive shafts exhaust system Do you have hydrolic clutch in it at the moment? if not then your dashboard will have to come off to change the pedal box
  17. Cylinder number 1 the noise is coming from? As in the other side of timing end.
  18. "coincidence with the cam chains being replaced etc at the time it started as the noise isnt from that area?" Has it made this noise the same day it came out the garage? If did i dont think its a coincidence
  19. "between a knock and tap (almost like big ends) coming from what appears to be the central area around the intermediate shaft area which they havent been able to fix!" Well id sort the intermediate shaft out first lol... But you say its sounds like its coming from valve area? Altho sounds can travel. Could be as jezmoz said with the timing going out and bending some valves but i think you would notest that power wise when driving. Could do a compresson test and if it holds good compression then it would surly tell u if the valves are bent I wonder what snapped valve spring would sound like? So
  20. easy sticks...lol Now that is a good idea, sounds like fun aswell. Tell me in a PM if you pull it off lmao
  21. Yer it does need striping down by the sounds of it.. Somthink else you can do just to check the it isn't the shells is pull a spark plug lead off one by one. If the knocking noise gets qwieter then you know its a big end (the one you removed the spark plug from) Worth doing before you strip anythink down as only takes 10 mins and if they had the sump off...
