  1. Looking good mate. I'd completely forgotten about this thread. Looking forward to see it on the new rims whatever colour you decide to go for. Kevin
  2. A few pics from my trip to SLS Tuning http://www.slstuning.de/eng/uberuns/leistungen/index.php in Germany for a re-map (Road trip thread here http://www.vr6oc.com/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?315466.0) I got the 250 bhp I'd been expecting from my basic stage 1 setup 8-). It drives so much better and is much more fuel efficient which I wasn't expecting. Still need to move the MAF and sort out a little bit of belt slip but all in good time.
  3. I might as well make it 4. Running in or otherewise, it's the oil of choice for VR's
  4. I was wondering if how long that had been there and if I just hadn't been paying attention. Great idea!
  5. I've not known VR auto boxes to last much beyond the 80/90k mark as said above, however as with a lot things on these cars, regular servicing and oil changes are essentilal. A well looked after engine and transmission (manual or auto will run and run. I'd personally have an autobox rebuilt before it went altogether. A lot cheaper to have parts replaced prior to them failing completely.
  6. Try using Quantum Synta Silver 10w40 or a similar make with of the same grade. A 5w30 is too thin for a VR imo, especially one with 118k on the clock. Kevin
  7. Some of my pics.... The last few miles before we got to SLS A handful of cars that we saw when we finally arrived
  8. I'm very happy with it mate. The quoted figure for a ZR Stage 1 set up is 250bhp and I've been told by NS tuning that SLS rollers tend to give slightly lower readings than those in the UK so we'll see if there's any difference when I do a RR day or the like here. As far as being conservative with the Map, I'd have to say not. They mapped it for driveability and for all round power so the figure doesn't mean as much to me as how it drives and it does that a whole lot better than it did on the way over there on the generic map. I've also got my original chip and one to put in once I've moved th
  9. Toyota Aygo, Peugeot 107, Citroen C1 are all built by Toyata and basically the same car with different bumpers and lights. I looked into these as a car for work but settled on the C1 as it's the only one with a diesel engine which I need.
  10. Worth every single mile for the end result and the road trip mate. Our aim was to get my car mapped and get the R32 Turbos (aka the wild animal) running issues sorted. I was the support driver carrying, tools, oil and just about everything that we might need, should either car develop any issues, but the R32 was the more likely of the two cars to have problems as mine had a succesful test drive the day before on the way to and back from Players. I met my cousin Sparkz and Raj from NS Tuning in North London at about 7.30pm on Monday and did the usual oil and water checks before we warmed up bot
  11. No probs. I've gotta refit my headlights too so I'll probably still be on mine by the time you get there.
  12. You could be right about the MK4 lights. I did buy a second set which had already been split so I could change the halo bulbls and use the lenses which weren't chipped. Sparkz did them for me. He said something about gas mark 3? http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/jj201/spindat45/150920091956.jpg
  13. There's a little car park area near Sparkz. I've got my filter but gotta go rummaging around in his garage in the morning for my Synta. We can do yours at the same time mate. Won't take long. i'm aiming to be at his for 9.30, 10 the latest as i'm coming from South London. Sparkz will probably still be asleep but I'll get the keys and we can get them done in little or no time
  14. Sounds like it mate. You can't see the actual matrix even with the dash out. It's inside of that big black box. There are no pipes inside the car as such as the two water pipes that are under the bonnet and disapper into the bulkhead are connect to the matrix itself. I had mine changed recently only to find out it was fine. I was losing water slowly but it was not as you've described with water running down inside. This was the inside when we were putting it all back together http://www.vr6oc.com/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?119591.110#post_314375. A bit of a mess to say the least
  15. Gotta do a quick oil change in the morning then I'll be along with RCF, Sparkz and 15 Degrees. I've not been before so quite looking forward to it. 8-) PHM, long time no see mate. Look forward to seeing the Rallye
  16. Have you noticed the water in the footwell after heavy rain? It could be leaking in from around the door, the sills or even the windscreen. Are you losing coolant from the header tank under the bonnet? That would be an indication that you may have a heater matrix leaking. Unfortunately if it is the matrix, the dashboard has to come out in order to change it. There's no other way to get at it. Kevin
  17. I haven't had Mk 4 lights apart but my Angel eyes are in bits atm as I'm changing the halo bulbs (Sparkz is). I've seen a few sets of MK 3 lights that have had the internals painted black and it looks good depending on the colout of the car. I think it would suit yours. I've seen a link somewhere about this but can't remember where. My mate is interested in a BMC for his 4 MO. How much of a bargain was the one you're waiting on? Kevin
  18. give Sparkz a PM about this mate, Not much he doesn't know about these conversions
  19. Enigne out again..... ...and back in with the 6 branch manifold and Eurosport strut brace fitted Re-map booked for Tuesday.... Germany here we come...... :-d
  20. I've bought two full sets of Toyo PX-4 tyres from Topgearshop via Fleabay for £200 delivered. They don't seem to have any in stock at the moment but they have the T1-R's for £235 delivered. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/4x-Toyo-Proxes-T1-R-205-40-17-Performance-2054017-Tyres_W0QQitemZ170381111276QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Cars_Tyres_RL?hash=item27ab816fec&_trksid=p4634.c0.m14.l1262. I'm not sure how good a price that is for the T1-R's but the service from them was good and delivery was quick. I've found the PX-4 to be a good all round tyre but the T1-R is still supposed to be the better of the two.
  21. Yep, mine is too but this is on a MK2 so might be located differently? As TG said, it does sound MAF related. Try unplugging it on idle and see if it makes a difference.
