  1. Hmm, mine is charged now and the other N/A VR i've driven has been chipped and has no rev limit so I can't really compare properly. I'd say it probably is quicker than a standard VR but there's not much between the two.
  2. S/Hand 6 branch manifold cracked so bought one of these Expertly wrapped by Sparkz 8-) Fitting it at the weekend, so should be ready for Players :-d
  3. Myself. Sparkz and Pro4Motion will be there weather permitting. I've heard its a chilled out affair which suits me and it isn't that much of a treck for us. Looking forward to it as I've missed virtually every show this year in mine due to ongoing repairs. Roll on 2010 is all I can say ^o)
  4. He got an exceptionally good deal on this car imo. Thats why I told him to snap it up. A case of right place, right time. Most if not all that we've seen for sale since are still around £3500 - £4500 depending on age milage and condition. Prices have dropped a lot in the last 12 months but I don't think the price he paid is an accurate representation of by how much. Having never driven a V6 4 Motion, I drove this car last night and was pleasantly suprised at how respnsive and how much low down torque it had. Standard suspension could do with being a bit stiffer but that's to be expected.
  5. Oh right. I thought you meant have your one or a spare lightened. How much are the Schimmel ones? I've heard good things about them. I think I paid JP about £80 to do mine and it's not been overdone as there's no judder. .
  6. I'd heard the price of FPR's had gone up a bit but soudns like you got a bargain all the same
  7. LOL. Just as I thought. I was about to do the same with mine when a brand new 4 bar one dropped out of the box of bits that came with my charger. Result!
  8. Was it a 3 bar which was "modified" slighty mate?
  9. He looks strangely familiar but with less hair than the guy I was thinking of so can't be him. I'd beef up the security on your garage with folks like that hanging about mate :-p Looking forward to seeiing how this progresses Pete. I'd recommend the lightened flywheel btw. Mine seems to rev a lot more freely below 3500 rpm since doing that and the head work. Or maybe it's my lead boots?
  10. Hi Mark I've got a VF front mount on mine and it does exactly what I had hoped it would. There is little or no engine movement and it makes a big difference when braking and cornering. To reduce vibration, I went for standard rear and gearbox mounts but time will tell if they can take the extra BHP. The VF mounts are not favoured by some because when used all round they can cause excessive vibration inside the car. More of a track car feel imo. From what I've heard the Vibra mounts are not as harsh as the VF ones when fitted all round. You should be able to order them off the shelf but I can'
  11. If you're interested in any of these http://www.sw-performance.com/products/CTGAFR I should be able to get you a reasonable price from the States. Kevin
  12. Hi Mark. I'm gonna take a guess at 50,000 but i get the feeling I'll be pleasantly suprised?
  13. Thats a good combo and if i ever need to replace gearbox and rear I'd probably go fast road. Are they pricey?
  14. Should there be a pic with this post?
  15. I know what you mean about the rear lights. I think he'll change them. The colour put him off at first but he's loving it now as you don't see many 4 Mo's let alone Jazz blue ones.
  16. VR - Itchy, If you mean performance upgraded mounts such as VF or Vibra Tech then yes they would be fine. I've got a VF front mount and new standard gearbox and rear engine mounts on mine. There is little or no engine movement and the standard rear mounts reduce the harshness and vibration that would be felt from having solid/uprated mounts all round. I've driven a MK3 with solid/uprated mounts all round and it's not for me although I'm not sure what make they were.
  17. The 30 metre roll which is about £25 will do 2 manifolds so you can always sell the excess on. That was one of the cheaper ones i looked at on the Bay. Loads of different types. Tip for wrapping: Soak the wrap in water before wrapping the manifold as it makes it easier to handle and as it dries, it holds the shape of the manifold. Also use latex gloves or marigolds as it can cause major skin irritations.
  18. You should get it for £160 delivered which is about what we paid but we ordered 2 so got a bit of a discount A couple of pics of the wrap Individually wrapped as above is most effective but needs a little more wrap. I personally think it is a good idea to wrap it.
  19. I ordered a roll of this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/HEAT-TREATED-EXHAUST-WRAP-50MM-X-10M-LONG-SST_W0QQitemZ300344768598QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item45edf17856&_trksid=p4634.c0.m14.l1262 and according to Sparkz it is decent stuff. I should probably have ordered the 30m roll as he reckons 10m isn't quite enough if you wrap it properly. I had to get extra metal ties and got these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140341103562&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT. I went for a Hottuning 6 branch (formerly Raceland) from Strictly Dubs
