  1. I was hit from behind in my work car recently with a pupil driving. My insurance wouldn't accept a witness statement from him, as he was in the car (driving) under my instruction so I doubt they'll take your G/F as a witness. It has to be an independant witness. The fact that she admitted liability should count in your favour but as the guys have said, let your insurance take care of it asap.
  2. Did she admit it was her fault at the side of the road after the accident? That is usually a clear indication of who was to blame in the eyes of some insurers which is why they tell you to never accept responsibility. Also were there any independent witnesses?
  3. Well I thought I'd be all official and proper
  4. Somehow I've not looked at this thread in ages and as a result I didn't add my name to the list. As the stand is confirmed for 15, if someone pulls out could whoever is sorting this please add me to the list. Kevin
  5. Indeed it does. Wet carpets in the front footwells too?
  6. Carburettor/injector cleaner will do the job nicely. Spray on and use an old cloth to aggitate and wipe away the depoits. Repeat until all surfaces are clean. if yo do the throttle body make sure both sides of the butterfly are clean. Pay particular attention to the top and bottom of the housing where the butterfly sits when it's closed.
  7. Hoses don't usually blow off unless they haven't been fitted correctly or the clip hasn't been tightened properly. Best to re-fit the hose if it's not split or damaged and the clip, Refill with coolant and run it with the cap off and the heater on hot (full blast) to get rid of any air locks. once the thermostat has opended both top and bottom hoses should be roughtly the same temp when touched. Do this until the temperature is at half way then replace the cap and wait for the fans to switch on and off. This may take a while. Switch the engine off and leave the engine to cool down properly and
  8. Silly question but I'll ask it anyway Mark. Did you give both connectors on the starter a live when you checked it? Main live and the smaller solenoid connector? i'm guessing yes if you had it connected to the car when you checked before but I've checked in the past and forgot to bridge the lives which only threw the solenoid in and out. just a thought mate. I'll have a word with Pat and see if he's got a starter
  9. Sounds like a flat battery or one with not enough power Mark.
  10. I don't think you can get that part by itself anymore. I may be wrong but I think you have to buy the whole 3 piece pipe in one and not cheap. That's probably why they couldn't find the union by itself. I may have on for sale from an auto but check with VW first. Someone on here might be able to give you the exact part number. *shouts for CABRIOMAN* Kevin
  11. Excellent! I bet you can't wait. Pat's a dab hand at hidden looms so give him a call or a PM. I may have said this before. On any rebuilds as precaution, we always turn the engine over four or five times for about 5 seconds each go with the multiplug disconnected to get the oil to the top of the engine. Re-connect and away you go. As you know it'll be as noisy as hell for a while on idle but if the pressure is up slightly before it starts it's got to help imo. I hope it starts first time for ya.
  12. What cables are you worried about mate? There are quite a few near to the block/head in a number of places which are fine. A good lashing of insulating tape should be do the trick. You know who I'll recommend you ask
  13. Looks like you've got yourself a bargain there mate. always best to look, listen and drive before you buy but fingers crossed it's as decent as described.
  14. Looks good mate. What spec or better still, the item number?
  15. No probs. Get the right length bolts mate. When i get mine i'll pick 4 up for you as well if you like
  16. 280's. LOL, they'll be miles better. I'm gonna be lazy and ask the exact length and width you had your spacers cut to? I know they need to be 7mm thick (think that's right). Also the high tensile carrier bolts are 40 mm long M12's but with an M10 thread right?
  17. Looking good Tony. Destruction proof! What make of discs have you used? I've got the 312mm TT conversion for mine so also wondered if you changed the whole lot or did you do the conversion with the spacer plate? Kevin
  18. Loving the new interior! Excellent choice of rimmage in my unbiased opinion Mark Put them on and keep the car. Another 5 door ZR charged VR for this years shows :-p . Is it possible to un-bump this thread? Kevin

  23. Excessive toe out (wheels pointing outwards as you described) which is tracking and excessive negative camber (top of wheels pointing inwards) will cause that sort of wear. Both will need checking and adjusting. Toe in by itself usually causes wear to the outer edges of the tyres. As you said in your first post the camber and tracking probably weren't done after the coilies were fitted. Check with whoever does the alignment that they can do lowered cars as some older equipment can't fit under the arches if it's too low. As for the hole behind the front wheel, some pics would help as that's
