  1. Got a nasty little red light in the dash today. Water level low, checked, and found a little puddle below the alternator pulley area, the drip was coming from above, could not exactly see where, but it was dripping into the plastic cowling and dripping onto the floor. Would I be right in thinking that the Water pump is the one right at the back at the bottom? Is this the most likely source? Also, whilst checking for leaks found a hose that is not leaking but is looking pretty crappy. Any ideas on price for a; Aux water pump to reservoir to Thermostat housing hose, part no 1HO 121 063 B. Thank
  2. Its true, every car uses oil, most will state a quantity per miles in the manual. Mine drinls oil, yet no smoke even when the mrs is ragging it, in front of me, and no leaks. Well there is now, but it was using it before that too. I would agree with a litre every 600-1000 miles. Yet I have had other cars that use none, I think mileage is a factor in consumption, but every engine will use it from the first time it fires.
  3. What about the air bag and wiring............
  4. Which one? Generals, or is there another new one?
  5. I used a Stud extracot on the bolt head. The harder you turn the harder it grips, worked wonders, till I broke it. Now got a good quality one. Knock the Allen key in with a hammer, that helps too, unless its rounded off. Else grind it off, or like they say get the mechnic to do it, they will be in a grump after though!
  6. You should check oil and water very regularly. Just cos you got a light dont mean it works! I check all fluids every time I fill up with Petrol, so every 300 miles or so. Defo low on water, the light will stay on till you stop the engine once it has been activated.
  7. How do those sort of people make it through their sad miserable deluded lives without walking in front of a train! Surely someone that stupid must have stuck their finger in a plug socket by now!
  8. .... and if you ask nicely I am sure someone will tell you how to reset them too.....
  9. See thats what I always wonder?! WTF does anyone want a sunroof for? They leak, they are noisy when open, and every time I use mine it screws up the immobiliser! Being an Aircon Engineer, I got a question I should know the answer to! Air con for building you can use on heat and cool, cos it got a 4way valve in. Does anyone use this on cars? Cos it would be near instant heat, which would be a huge bonus in the winter, making heated seats obsolete.
  10. Thats good enough for me! They useless for seeing with anyway, just good for upsetting other road users and looking good!
  11. I dunno if the fogs need aligning, didnt bother with mine, but they seem Ok.
  12. I disagree, air con is the mutts! I really miss it! Would not attempt to retro fit it unless I was gonna strip the engine out though. Would like the heated seats too, but last time I sat in some I farted and it makes them smell ten times worse!
  13. You always re-use the old crown, discs never come with them, be gentle though, treat it like a 16yr old virgin, else you gonna get a fault if you damage it!
  14. Normal, needs the fan to cool the Condenser coil in front of the Radiator.
  15. You need a straight driver to pop the old reflectors out, and then a philps, and thats it old boy! You should be done in 20mins.
  16. Fake wood anyway, gets faded over time and you end up with whiteish plastic! Nice! Put me right off, dont mind wood so long as its real! Otherwise its a bit cheap, like Rover!
  17. Put your key in the Barrel and turn the ignition on and dont start the car. Then get out and grab a wheel at 3 and 9 o`clock and try to turn the steering back and forth at the wheel, if there is play in the steering you will hear a quiet knocking noise as you wiggle it. Trace the noise and trace your fault!
  18. Have you checked the motor yet? Next the temp switches on the thermostat housing, fuse, then start looking for relays later.
  19. My money is on the Exhaust, check the bungees!
  20. I am interested in them, you can make it work, but it costs almost as much as a proper one, you need extra batteries and stuff. The other thing is the power distribution is reversed. High power at bottom of rev range, and then almost nothing at red line. There is a guy thats devoted his life to them, got them working well, but only lasts a few seconds until it drains the extra battery, then you gotta wait five minutes for a recharge, he compares it to NOS.
  21. My Boss was away for a week and I usually do something to his Computer whilst he is away, was gonna put that as his Homepage, but bottled it! Makes interesting reading though!!!
  22. You need to spend a bit of money on them, mine was in goon nick, but not serviced for two or three years whilst the previous owner had it. Since I bought it I have had to pay for his tightness. Cost me bout 1.5k in 18 months, but hey I still love her! NOt as much as I would lovean R32!
  23. Almost as bad as imagining your mom on top of your old man!!!! or giving him a BJ!!!! PHM theres a site you should check out ready for your next night shift! www.swingingheaven.co.uk
