well i personally would rather shove live wasps up my arse than buy a jap car, most people who have them are little old ladies and a seemingly gathering crowd of semi bald 40 something old men with a dozen failed marriages and a la coste t shirt and trainers trying to hold on to youth by haviing a car with some shite graphic and a spoiler on it, then standing in toys r us car parks on a tuesday night with some spotty dix in corsas giving it "yeah yeah its 5 handred orses g`uvnr" i would still rather have a 20 year old mk1 gti any day. the japs can blow me!

get the cams re set, if the inlet and exhaust valves are opening up at the wrong times nothing will be entering or exiting in the right order and stifling the performance, the low down power figure could just be down to it not affecting the inlet or exhaust gas expulsion as low down theres not as much expulsion needed, soon as its flat out its struggling to keep up -
only thing you can try is hammering on a slightly smaller socket, i think they are 17 bolt heads so maybe if its got some shoulder left a 16 would force onto it? you can get a tool from halfords that is a multi fit socket, it works like one of those metal gizmos that you can make a hand impression on if you know what i mean?, its lots of small metal rods that shape to whatever size bolt/nut it comes into contact with, dunno how good they are though? they are very popular with car wheel thieves!! other than that it will be a case of welding a nut onto the existing one only trouble with that is

BBS LM`s MMMMMMMMMMM you must of had to sell a testicle (or both?) to get hold of them in 17`s !!!! i tried everywhere including the european continent and could i find some 17s?? NO not a sausage! must say your car looks mean on em mate, the gold centres not my particular taste but still look spot on, just hope i can get some of the same in 18`s with black centres for the R32 when it gets here -
What wheels

just be mindfull that some people encounter problems when you renew discs & or pads, the new ones can push the caliper out a bit and sometimes cause it to touch, not usually a problem but worth bearing in mind, have you looked at this website for rims? www.tunershop.co.uk, i got mine from them and can highly recomend them -

8 inch wide rims fit and clear fine as long as you only run 205 40 17 tyres, you can still drop it loads too, the brake caliper only has to clear by 1 mm dont forget!!! as you shouldnt get any movement or you have major problems elsewhere if it does touch! -
my 5 door ones were just cliped in after i removed the 4 screws, they did need a little persuasion to come out though! a gentle thump on the door panel worked for me!

my Rallye golf rolled away once! off the inlaws drive and down the road onto a house 3 doors away front lawn! i was shocked when i looked out and couldnt see my car!!!! then relieved when i saw it down the road and even more relieved it had missed 2 parked cars and handnt been damaged at all when it bumped up the kerb!! lucky it rolled backwards or the kerb would have ripped the front bumper off and probably mullered the steering rack too!! i put down to brakes cooling off, its probably the only time i never left it in gear so i was lucky! -
the later 7 spoke BBS highline ones are called solitudes, but i dont know if the early types had names? i expect they did but unless you have sales brochures for the 1992 upto 1995 it will be hard to find out

at the end of the day its a VW not some fragile japanese or malaysian attempt at an affordable reliable car, yeah a skyline might be faster, but then its faster than loads of stuff, a scooby might be faster accelerating, but its just like the ford escort used to be! every c+++s got one! if you want to run a decent car on a budget it has to be from "ZEE FARZER LAND" imo, the build quility and over engineered parts make German cars solid reliable cars with none of the frailties of the jap/malaysian stuff mentioned, and i want to get in my car and drive it, not tell some penis how fast i went aro

the coil pack are made of a sort of bakerlite substance, when hot they expand and this can cause arcing or loss of power, when its cold the gap may just be smaller and there is no effect, i had this but it was only leads arcing when hot, new leads and it cleared immediately, this also cleared a slight hesitation i used to get when in low gear hard accelerating.
-
i would of said maf? if its not the coil pack, oil vapour knocks the reading out on the maf and you lose all signal to the brain, i doubt its fuel related or it would do it no matter what hot or cold

Quick answer needed!!
purple highline monster replied to Snedboy's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
give it an oil change sometimes they dont "hydraulic" properly, an oil change sometimes helps, but they do get noisy after a few years as the springs weaken and they wear -
you can get pacet race fans, they do loads of different sizes and they can run all sorts of switching and run times depending on need http://www.pacet.co.uk/
