I started with 120 then went through 240,400,600,800,1200.... i think people do go to 1500 and 2000 and even 2500 grits!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! then autosol for a while to get proper shiny..

i tried a dremel when i did mine - i found the stones too hard and the sandpaper tubes too soft ..... but they may do some other attachments i didn't have at the time ...... sandpaper does work , but it takes ages .....

keep going . . . . . . when your fingers hurt, keep going some more - you will be chuffed you did it all in the end !!!!! every time i open my bonnet now i go "oh yeah, I did that !!!" as for the niggly bits at the front i used a butter knife from the kitchen(slyly) and wrapped some sandpaper around it to get right into the gaps ....... oh yeah and it took me about a month to do mine - evenings and weekends , couple hours at a time .....!!!!! don't give up .....

my g/f has a mk3 gl (did have mk2 driver) mk sis has a mk1 sportline cabby my g/f's mum should be buying a mk3 soon and to many mates to list have v dubs... oh and i work at vw too

part number help - is it the egr valve?

it's off the back of the head yeah??? left hand side of engine bay.... unfortunately not available separatley for the golf part no is - 3A0 129 615 D BUT it is shown separately on a sharan part no 7M0 129 101 i'm not 100% sure if they are interchangeable, be careful . . . . . . richie -

mine used to stall randomly - i cleaned the throttle body from all the carbon and cack that was inside and it helped loads . . . . .and it was free!!! BUT mine used to run fine after stalling when i restarted it - yours doesn't so as you say could be electrical ... have you checked your plugs and leads recently?? first place i'd start looking . . . .

not surpised mate. . . . i work in the parts dept at a dealer and our labour rate is £75 an hour +vat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and i have to tell that to customers. . . . . some of them just can't believe it, but at least we arec heaper than ford, audi, bmw and peugeot round my way!!! -
i saw that mk2 aswell . . . . at least it isn't just me that spots golfs on tv!!!!!!!!!!!! programme was quite good i think..

that's a goooooood quote... i'm 30 with car on drive full ncb had vr for 3.5 years... my renewal was £500 fully comp all mods declared BUT if i wanted to put the gf on my policy (22yrs old, 2 yrs ncb on her policy) my policy was over £900!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! strangely she's not been added....... but she CAN drive it on her own policy but 3rd party only ...
