    a friend of mine has a mk3 8v gti - his had this problem also - turned out to be the crank sensor..... worth a look i guess

    your et21 don't rub...nice.. undecided whether to go 195/40/16 or 205/40/16... could be 195's then, but don't really want to go narrower than std 205 width.. but that's good news - cheers slim.. p.s. your motor looks TIDY..
