  1. don't know mate you know that is only for the manifold not the turbo aswell.. i think you need a different kit for a uk rhd car because of the steering rack. . .
  2. part 2 done today starting with new main crank seal :- then onto putting all new chains and tensioners on : - refit the chain covers, new clutch, rocker cover back on, refit manifold ..... : - and finally for today gearbox back on (still dirty), and lower back onto the mounts and remove engine support bar : - tomorrow tighten all bolts, refit drive shaft, gearlinkage, etc etc then go for a hack . . . . . without a slipping clutch!!!

  4. absolutely - i get 20% off the labour but still works out at about £55 an hour plus vat AND the book time for clutch and chains is something silly like 14 or 15 hours!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i don't have anything like that much money :-( plus my mate who is doing it for me is an audi technician anyway and i would trust him to do anything on my car...which is good..
  5. finally i had the money so i have a new clutch and also cam chains!!! so today i drove to my mates garage and started surgery!!!( well my mate did - i "helped" and watched . . . so up in the air : - bits starting to be removed :- gearbox off, clutch off, rocker cover off : - chains ready to be removed . . :S :-d :- (the paint marks are just double checks - it is timed up properly!!) after chains removed we found one BROKEN tensioner - it literally fell off after removing one of the two bolts!! :- and one very badly worn one : - and that is how it is now - in pieces .... but if you hav
  6. you need to remove the glass first GENTLY prise it off forwards with a samll flat blade or a little hook tool.. if you angle it all the way toward the ground makes it easier to get in behind it then you can release the tabs and pop it off
  7. they look like projectzwo mirrors to me . . . very rare if they are i believe
  8. you may be able to remove them without the tool if you remove your manifold(as you need to) not 100% sure though . . . best get checking..
  9. 103,000 . . . . chains and clutch being done tomorrow . . .
  10. i can get you the proper vw metal one from work if you want .. send me a pm ...
  11. it says that in the workshop manual, but as always a pinch of salt is reqd ... you can probably get the out without it ...
  12. i don't think there is a haynes for your car .. hopefully your engine should look like the pic below: - if you remove the top cover it should be kinda like this underneath... the spark plugs are under the connectors on the top - un plug them and you have a combined coil and plug lead in one unit - i think you need a "special tool" to remove them though ???? as for the rest servicing should be the same as any other car, oil filter, air filter, etc... hope this is useful...
  13. ok then i finally have my new rims (cheers VR6Rich) so here are some updated shots with them on : - hopefully see a load of you guys and girls at the bristol volksfest next weekend ..

  16. when i changed my front discs and pads i left the wire for the sensor slightly looser than it should have been.....thus causing it to rub on the wheel.. after about 3 miles(!!!) it wore through totally and hence put the light on... he could have done this too???
  17. dan you almost certainly need the heater resistor, which is bolted in to the blower up under the dash . . . . easy to do, just remove the shelf under the passenger side, unplug and then unbolt and replace ... part number SHOULD be 701 959 263 A @ price of £31.17 pm me or come in with chassis number then i can confirm deffo as for the aircon it may just need regassing - they do from time to time .....normally every 3 years or so ..
  18. you are right mate "ag" is the equivalent of our "ltd" or "plc" v.a.g. actually stands for volkswagen ltd.. or volkswagen plc... but nearly everybody thinks it stands for volkswagen audi group' date=' but it doesn't . . . . . . see pic below taken from a spark plug leaflet @ work ... you can see it says volkswagen ag and audi ag .....
