  1. They are running R32s with an AUE ECU? Cars like the R32 have little value over here because of the stupid cost of fuel. We don't have cheap E85 like you guys.
  2. Yeah I used a Golf throttle mate. It's the same size as the Corrado's but has a lighter spring, which I prefer. I've seen Schimmel logs used with Corrado throttles before mate, so you'll be fine!
  3. It's fine mate. He told me he was going to build a VRT but I knew he'd ebay it :-) You can use the air temp bit of the sensor, which is pin 2. The existing wires you've got for the VR6 sensor just need extending over to the new sensor, so a very minor change. You defo want the ISV mate!
  4. Hmmm, that's my old Schimmel log. That is indeed a map and air temp sensor combined. That's a £100 sensor, so you did well out of that, plus the labour and materials to get that mounting plate welded on. The guy I gave that intake to I also included an ISV, ISV adapter plate and hoses and boost pipe etc etc....
  5. Ran an ISV on my short runner no probs. I've done the whole no idle control thing and it's horrible for a daily road car. Not so bad for a weekend only toy.
  6. It'll do no harm to the engine no, but it may harm your wallet, depending on how many litres a barrell is Also important to use a fuel that's got no lead additives or it'll feck the cat, if fitted. Fishwick, lol, that's my username on the Corrado forum so I'm just going for some consistency. Dunno where the inspiration came from. Was watching Coronation street one day and a bloke on there was called Colin Fishwick, which I liked the sound of, LOL!
  7. Sunoco goes up to 115 ish octane IIRC. I know the guy who runs Hauser Racing in Northants (Drag car specialist) and he was telling about one of his 15:1 compression drag V8s running Sunoco 115 octane. 25psi and no det!! It's what Sunoco is made for. It'll have minimal effect on a standard VR6 engine. It will enable you to run more ignition advance but that won't yield huge amounts of power.
  8. Yeah that's a curious drop in the torque curve isn't it! Almost looks like clutch slip or wheelspin or something, but at 5.5K rpms, unlikely!! 8psi is that? It's only 10hp down on where a stage 2 normally sits, but that's with a V9. I have no idea what a V3 is supposed to make. Keep at it, this is just the start!
  9. Good to hear you're back on track! Keep us posted!
  10. Free! Have they got anything else for free they want to share with us? :-) I've got one of their Stealth catch cans, very nice bit of kid indeed. Nice company to deal with and unlike most other American aftermarket tuning companies, they bother themselves to reply to your emails.
  11. To go 3.0 (or 2937cc to be more precise) you don't need to change anything. Why not just bore the 2.8 you've already got to 83mm and run it as a dizzy motor still? Coilpack has no power advantage over a dizzy what so ever. It's just emissions and service life related.
  12. That's the stuff. American suppliers won't send it airmail because of their shipping laws (aerosols on planes they don't like!). I did manage to get a can from a UK supplier but it was like 15 quid instead of 4 bucks.... the rip off bastards. I can't remember who the UK supplier was now unfortunately.
  13. The rod ones are weird and there's a few variations on how to tighten them, but on my packet it said "If you don't have a stretch gauge, tighten to 45lbft". But other guys who've done VRTs said torque em up 3 times to stretch them and job's a good un. Can't argue with that as I never had any problems in over 60K in my VRT with those torques....
  14. If you mean, will that flange fit the standard VR6 downpipes, then yep, it should do.

Schimmel 263s give excellent results. Autotech 262 another good choice and a bit cheaper.
  16. I did my head bolts to 80 in 3 stages. Rod bolts are stretch, so I tightened them to 40lbs 3 times.
  17. Nah it was a red chemical if IIRC and not copper. Can you not get the Permatex stuff in this country then? It works really well. Stopped the sweat of oil you always get by the belt tensioner on mine.
  18. Your only running a gt30? Bit small don't you think??? I must admit, that did cross my mind too :-) It's probably a GT3082 hybrid with a T4 turbine housing, which is a very nice unit for big R owners wanting some midrange punch :-) Personally I'd pop a T4 35R on for some top end clout as the R has more than enough poke below 3000rpm as it is! To the OP, a nice GT35R 0.82 AR for £995 - http://www.gt3turbo.com/Merchant/product.php?productid=16133&cat=332&page=1 I ordered mine from there and it's 100% all Garrett. My previous GT35R from America had clone housings on it and ended up
  19. As above, order a proper Clampco 3" V band from a reputable seller and it will fit. I too have tried cheap copies and they're just a waste of space.
  20. There is. A Loctite product but I can't remember the name of it. Vince will know.
  21. The Forge Motorsport 007P is a popular choice. Tried and tested. Reliable and well made.
  22. If the course has lots of tight turns and short straights, you might want to consider the GT35 turbo instead. Full boost by ~3500rpm or 4000rpm with a 1.06 back housing, although with your 3.5" stumpy little exhaust, those rpms might reduce a bit. I don't think a 45 will do much below 5K even with that exhaust, which might hamper your progress a bit. The 70mm throttle is a bit too big imo. Big throttles are a pain in the arse to map for smooth low rpm progression. Just look at the R32 with it's ridiculous 73mm throttle!! I've seen 6L V8s with smaller throttles! The stock throttle is f
  23. Defo agreed on that. You can't quantify development time unfortunately. All people see is a peice of metal costing £500+ !!
  24. I thought you were taking it to Stealth? I was there when you called Vince :-) As said already, would be a shame to give up! I bet it's mostly simple things but you can't see the wood for the trees :-)
