  1. tbh, without sounding patronising in any way, the vr6 in general is a big gold bar to tune for more power whatever you do to it! there is no easy/cheap way of extracting loadsa power from these engines. the vgi method, tho expensive is a tried and tested variety, as is a charger or a larger capacity bottom end, but none of these mods are either cheap, without there own problems, or totally reliable long term! there is , however, one point to remember, the noise from the vr engine, and any of the mods mentioned adds to the cacophony of chaos to pedestrians ears you could wish for! one aspect o
  2. you could always try a brand new mast as the vr ones are amplified as standard. you have to remove a small section of the headlining in the middle of the rear of the boot section but is quite easy and is as easily returned to as it was no probs! sometimes the underside of the mast, where it bolts to the roof can rust and thus provides a bad earth for the ariel and a crap reception ensues. its a simple matter to both check for this and try a different mast altogether. i have the smallest of small ariel masts on mine and still manage to get some fm reception, no probs with normal height masts at
  3. might be an idea to speak to whoever fitted the alarm to start with if its not a factory fit item. as far as advice goes the alarm itself should not effect the wipers or rev counter unless a complete idiot has wired it in! sometimes the alarm wiring is linked to the wiring surrounding the sterring column, where controls for the wipers indicators are etc, but unless the wiring is awful to start with it should not cause such a problem.if the car is under a warranty then all these problems should be fixed(not bodged) by the garage the car came from, or another place of your choice at the expense
  4. why would anyone even think of using alluminium for bolts on brakes anyway?
  5. it could be a sticking tappet, remember it has two cams that have a power band around that area. the only way to really quieten them down is to get them replaced!
  6. no car needs one, but if you want to stiffen up the rear a little it does all help.
  7. happy birthday claire you old bird, lol! time to think about hanging up your running shoes now then! and my vr is less than half as old as me so makes me feel so much better, NOT!
  8. depends which type you want, vrrich has the type that fits to the top mounts on the rear turrewts, the other type you have to drill holes in the turret itself to mount, which would leave holes when you come to sell if you removed it! hope u dont mind rich!
  9. shame you cant stretch to a facelift for yourself fella. bit of filler here, bit of a stretch or two there. just think about all those new sheep you could pull, lmao! looking on its way to a beauty tho mate!
  10. sorry dude, moved this into the ice thread as its more at home here. how old is the cd player as some burnt cd's wont play on an older cd player as the lens wears out and has trouble picking up the deeper etched signal!
  11. look like 5 stud estorils to me. never seen them b4! look sweet polished!
  12. ooopppsss! is it that bad, 2500 min with lots of water to remove swirls!
  13. stop showing off simon, lol!
  14. must be summat to do with the camber angle on the syncro's huh?
  15. mass air flow sensor, the bit the air filter/induction kit fixes too. sends the ecu a signal as to how much fuel/air to mix for ideal running!
  16. have to agree with mr anderson on the price front, would be a reasonably ratty set for less than 250 imho having seen more than few sets on sale now! realistically over 300 would be more in line with a good set of "standard finish" wheels with a mirror polished set being more on top, either bought as or done after!
  17. nice one. i know ben is up there next week to so i may be going the maf-less route myself if bens turns out okay, being obd1 it might not be as easy!

  19. you said it steve. leave those sort of antics to the nova brigade!
  20. tbh the whole swap over is about a 10 minute job, providing you know what you're doing and it hasnt rusted a hole clean thru your roof!
  21. i only do 1800 miles a year in mine so i'd like to know why i pay as much tax as someone who does 20k+ a year! rob dogs. roads round here are terrible too, and no extra lighting in my village where it needs it!
  22. sounds like a lead breakdown to me tbh. like steve said, tho he's on commision by the phirm, get back in touch and i'm sure it'll be easily sorted!
  23. to get the build built in fibregalss/filler and sprayed it would mean builind most of it in the boot in situ and then painting it in the car unless you build it in such a way that you can remove the entire build thru the hatch. to get a decent enough enclosure size on the offside of the boot anyway would mean it would look unequal in size when compared to the nearside as there is more room, due to the petrol filler taking up space on the offside part of the boot!if you have never attempted anything like this before, or anything in 'glass or filler than i would seriously go and see your local c
