yeah i guessed as much having seen a few later cl/gl's with colour coded bumpers, so i figured they must make them somewhere! i have found a front one in bristol, allready painted but wont be much effort to get it sprayed i guess! just gotta find a rear one and deal with those arches now!!!!

haven't tried gsf yet, but just rang euro car parts and the bloke on the other end didn't even know what a highline model was? didn't seem to know if they supplied the later bumpers either, getting back to me! bloody useless! i presume the side trims come smoothed ,allready to paint?

yeah, i bet a couple of arms would be required to buy some from vw, i just wondered if you could get them from euro or gsf or similar. side strips i would probably have to get done myself as i have a 5 door and finding the strips for a 3 door would be hard enough!

dont have any problem with the fronts at the mo, maybe when i switch to coilovers i will. lol....nice answer on the plastic arches.... i do think they look better without them tho, but i dont want to have to have a lot of paint work done, dont they have to be bonded back on anyway? and what about those nice highline bumpers, can you buy them primered in full new or not?

anyone had their rear arches rolled? i'm looking to have mine done as since fitting my 17" rs4 reps the tyres scrub like a cheap hooker over bumpy surfaces! dont really wanna change the wheels kuz they look sweet, but dont wanna pay the earth for rolling either! ideally i would like the plastic arches taken off but that may require paint and allsorts doing as not sure what horrors i may find underneath. help please before it destroys the sidewalls!! &|

so whats the story with the engine covers then peeps? i haven't seen one but judging by the comments i would like one! any ideas if there's a piccy still available somewhere and when they might be available?

the above description is good advice, same procedure i used. you will also require a resistor to plug back into the air bag push connector otherwise you will have the airbag warning light illuminated constantly, which is an mot failure! removing the bulb is also a failure as it should come on with ignition and then extinguish . awesome gti supplied mine at a cost of £10 plus p&p . how do they fit if you are no longer using the standard gaitor? i have a snappy gaitors one now , and can you make them round at the top too instead of flat?

new pump is about £35 and i'd rather change it now than have it lead to head gasket failure or worse! i think mine is because the engine has been stood for a while as i recently blew my 3.1 after 20k miles with the same problem! hence the old 2.8 going back in, and boy is it a difference in power! &|

hi everyone, just wondered if anyone on here has changed their own water pump and how difficult it is? my temp gauge is reading very low all the time, and coupled with the hot air not being as hot as i remember it would indicate a dodgy thermostat, no? i have also been told that the water pump may need changing too as the mileage is 106k and they tend to give up the ghost around the 100k mark! any input on this one guys, any info, piccys or advice would be muchly appreciated. %-6 [ Edited ]

i have a buzzing sound too from the right hand side of the block, took it to vw and they told me its the aux water pump and is quite comon. replacing it for a new one may not cure the problem???? it makes the noise when the ignition is on but the engine not running too!

the front ones are relatively easy, yes. take the wheel off and give them a quick squirt with wd40 as they tend to gather all the road crud.one bolt to undo then they just pull out of the housing, some gentle persuasion with mole grips or pliers may be needed. just make sure you get a pair if you replace them, because they are handed.

had the same trouble with my vr, abs light would come on and go off to start with under hard braking, then it stayed on all the time. replaced both front wheel sensors from euro car parts for £74 the pair, half the price of vw and exzctly the same ate sensors that were allready fitted! replaced the rear reluctor rings when changing the discs so no problems with the rear ones!
