  1. get yourseld some polishing mops and paste, these attach to a drill and will take cast materials down to a smooth and very shiny surface with the right kit.have a look at www.frost.co.uk for kits!
  2. you dont actually need to remove the headlining much at all tbh. just take the boot seal off all the way round and you can gain enough access to the ariel base to undo th e nut and remove the ariel once you disconnect the lead. replacement is the reversal of this and then pop the seal back on. jobs a good 'un!
  3. try this link for help with hosting pics chief! http://www.vr6oc.com/e107_plugins/content/content.php?content.31
  4. just in the process of boring my old obd1 right out to match the amd enlarged one i already have. will put some pics up as soon as its done!
  5. but at least mine will be done right, and besides, you'll have blown yours up shortly after i've passed you on route to a show! lol.

lol, bet he got some direction with his spelling after that.
  7. never had anyone call my schrick a dogs dinner, dogs danglies a few times, but never that! given that, even if it was an ugly addition, there's no doubting its abilities out on the road!
  8. so, does the beam have to be removed from the car to fit the bushes, or can it stay in situ?

billing is northampton which is pretty much middle ground for most people!
  10. yeah, just give chris a ring or an email and he'll sort you out! tbh, there is no real need to use a metal gasket unless you are going FI route, which i am. will be using arp bolts to fasten it down too so no leakage for me!

claire, if people want to attend they'll find the time. i think its just pick a date and put it to everyone, see how many we can get to attend!
  12. well, the gasket supplied to me was identical to a new vw one so i guess i must have a mk4 24v engine in mine. always wondered why it seened quick for an obd1. i'll have to ring chris at c2 back and let him know not to send any more over to the uk!
  13. is that talking from experience of having a go or just what you have come to find? not adverse to getting stuck in, but if its gonna be less time consuming and effortless to get it done elsewhere then so be it!
  14. doesnt matter a head gasket is a head gasket fella, and there is no difference in blocks or head on us models compared to uk models. you've been misinformed i'm afraid! how can your block not be flat enough? have asked the question myself and they defo fit!
  15. has anyone any experience of doing the rear beam bushes themselves? mine need doing i believe now and i already have the bushes just need to know how easy it would be to do at home verses a garage fitment. if its not worth my while i wont attempt it, i know i need a bias valve(early cars only) so i'll be having to bleed the brakes at the same time, and i realise i need to press the bushes into the beam, just wondering if its a possible job at home or best left to the garage?
  16. try here patrick http://www.c2motorsports.net/ss_headgasket_spacers.asp

has been metioned before tbh, numbers should be sufficient to do a meet of some description. somewhere like billing aquadrome as its a proper camping/caravan site with permanent food stall, a small funfair and a watersports lake. pick a good weekend and it could be superb. the polo guys hold there show there so might be an idea to go the same time to make it more of a gathering and summat different to look at!
  18. might as well get yourself an uprated loom too while you're at it!
  19. prob cost you a bit more than a can of gunk and some elbow grease that tho, lol!
  20. i know who got the shiniest one, lol! even slower with all that chrome too i bet!
  21. mk4 looks way phatter for me, and nicer interior as well!
  22. defo makes a difference to the throttle response!
