  1. Yeah that's why I thought this should be easy and bought the skinning kit. Ended up throwing most of it in the bin it just won't go where you want it to.
  2. More like vr6 for sale bodywork needs attention, missing mirrors crack in windscreen and tires been slashed.
  3. I know mine wont be the prettiest show car or the fastest track weapon when I'm finished. But it will be the first project car that I built so I don't think I could part with something that I painted and rebuilt with my own hands.
  4. Years ago my cousin bought a mk2 black what I thought was a gti. Took me for drive in it and floored it the power and the noise was incredible and I fell in love with the car was gutted when he sold it. Then 2 year ago decided I needed a project car as never done one and could finally afford it. Went to Pickering car show with the other half stood talking to a mate when all of a sudden a mk3 vr6 starts up and start revving I knew there and then I had to have one.
  5. Mine loves the vr so I'm quite lucky in that way. We did have a massive argument once because she wanted to go in holiday and I hate going abroad especially any where warm. A week sat in the sun on a beach is my idea of a nightmare. So i told her if she paid for half of my car (my hobby) I will pay half of the holiday cost (her hobby). She soon realized it works both ways and has been ok since. Now when I told her the other week I was looking into getting my motorbike license (for work I'm a tester if I can legally drive it I can test it) she flipped out lol.
  6. Skinning is very expensive too check out carbon mods website it show you how it's done.
  7. I would give it a good service engine flush fuel treatment and a good run out and then take it from there. I may be wrong as I'm not that familiar with the vr6 yet but isn't a faulty isv usually the fault for bad idling could try cleaning that up too.
  8. Have had quite a few arguments with my other half over cars especially when it comes to spending on the golf. But the way I see it and I have told her on many occasion it's my money I will do what I feel like with it. I always make sure all bills rent etc... Are payed and what's left over is mine I have told her when she decides she wants to pay half the bills for the car then she can have an input. Plus I don't complain when she buys shoes lol. The way I see it is if you have worked hard or your money you should be able to do what you want with it.
  9. I have tried to both hydro dip and carbon skin or laminate as its sometimes known a phone case didn't go we'll at all
  10. Carbon skinning is basically wrapping a part in genuine carbon fibre. Looks so much better and increases the strength of the part.
  11. Tried that the other week didn't turn out good. Harder than it looks.
  12. Cost can vary depending where you take best to ring around a few places and get some quotes. When I bought mine the previous owner was quoted over 500 to fix the sills and I got mine done through a friend for 50-60 can't remember exactly how much as was a while ago.
  13. Hi sorry for the late reply someone has either took it or threw it out at work.
  14. Can't remember his username but there is someone on here who put a vr turbo in the back of a Clio. Sure someone will be along to verify who it is.
  15. Hope everyone was ok and the fucker who did it gets what they deserve.
  16. Welcome to the club nice looking car I'm wanting to go turbo myself. Does your other half have a red type r by any chance think I was talking to him on Ccuk the other day. And as said above there is a blue corrado on here for 800 for sale
  17. I will have a look at work tomoro to make sure it's there and let you know.
  18. I'm sure I have a spare one at work it is green tho. But I am in the middle of painting the car and have mystic blue paint laying around I could always paint it for you.
  19. Battery impact gun and mole grips always do the job for me when I change dampers. Plenty of wd40 on the threads and wind it on and off a few times don't just try go straight off or it could lock up.
  20. Might not be to everyone's taste but it is a very nice car. The workmanship gone into this is just amazing. It's cars and people like this that inspire me to work on mine.
  21. Ok so not much of an update on this the paint is nearly complete. Was going to try out the car back on the road this month but decided I'm going to wait until the turbo build is finished. My driver (corsa 1.0) is pretty much dead now so as of Monday I will have a 2001 Octavia vrs to get about in.
  22. Could be bad earth/break in wiring, wrong buld fitted or brake light switch. First thing I would check is the lamp unit for any signs of corrosion etc...
  23. I was looking at those myself a few weeks back. Like the way the needles start up top anyone had a set of these as I'm a bit cautious when it comes to buying off eBay. Have had many parts that just don't quite fit.
  24. Can't remember If I have already asked this question. But do you have a multi car policy or mirror no claims for another vehicle. The reason I ask my golf is nearly built and my insurance is up on the daily driver end of the month might aswell get them both done at same time.
  25. you have way too many car parts laying about how big is your garage or shed.
