Those poor cars! All show and no go. The sad thing is that these people actually think they look cool driving them!

Without a cat, your car will fail the MOT on the emissions test. Mine failed a couple of weeks ago because of this so I found out the hard way. Ive now got a cat on my exhaust and to be honest, I actually prefer the new sound. Its got more of a purr and sounds healthier. De-cat exhausts are meant give slightly more power gains but I havnt noticed much of a difference with mine on. Ive got a straight through custom made exhaust with a dual back box which was VERY loud and burbled alot, its still got a lovely tone to it which turns alot of heads. You dont necessarily need to go down the branded

If I didnt have the VR, id probably pursuade my dad if I could have his black 2.8i ford capri which is sitting in the garage. Got a bit of a soft spot for those rust buckets!

I passed my test last July, Im 20 years old with 1 years NCB and pay £116 a month for my VR which is only third party, fire and theft! My annual premium is about £1200-ish with Kwik Fit. I have tried specialist insurers, a couple wouldnt even quote me and the others were well over £2k. Alot of money to pay but its well worth it Just gotta wait for my NCB to build up, and the fact im not even 21 yet plays a big part.

Ive just spent 500 quid getting my old VR back on the road again, its now got a lovely 12 months MOT, new cat, new rear discs and pads, new tyres, tappests are sorted - all set to go! Except there's one thing that's bothering me. I was doing about 100 down the motorway the other day and noticed my revs were sitting at about 4000 in 5th gear, is that in the normal range for 100mph?? Probably sounds like a really stupid question but the car just sounded like it was under a bit of pressure and Im pretty sure the revs never used to sit that high. It idles fine and sits at about 700rpm. Any ideas?

I love Cyanide & Happiness.

The smaller number indicates the viscosity of the oil in cold temperatures. the larger number is the viscosity when warm. I use 10w40 in my VR. 10w60 just means the oil is better suited for higher temperatures (I think!).

Those prices aren't bad, but Im sure this could probably turn into a debate about whether to spend money on an R32 engine OR on a decent supercharger. Personally, if I had the money I'd like to do something that hasnt really been done before so it could at least get a double page spread in Performance VW :-P R32's into mk3's have been done before and it's becoming more and more popular, but still seen as a unique change. When I first started looking into mod's, it was the Audi 1.8T engine that was quite popular. Still prefer the sound of a supercharged VR6 though.

Better get saving James R32 engine would be very nice, seen a mk3/R32 show car for sale not so long ago - £14,500! Sexy though.

Alot of the people I have met who own jap cars are very stuck up and seem to think that because they have a skyline, that they are the fastest thing on the road. Wipe the smile off of their faces and get your VR turbo/super charged Im being biased here anyway because I dont really like anything that isnt german (Apart from a ford mustang maybe!). German cars go on forever, how many beetles do you see from the 60's still chugging along? :-P You may get more power from a Jap car but how would you feel having spent thousands tuning it up, and then the engine goes pop! Id very much doubt you'd g

Some people just have too much money.
-
Yeah pretty much! I have no idea what the spec is at all, it was a stainless steel system and thats all I know. I would just really like to get that similar sound with the burbling.

I think on my first lap ill be driving at 25mph with my hazards on, screaming whenever someone bombs it past me Its not even your driving you have to watch, it's others on the track. Still looking forward to it though! Cant wait to be able to say ive done it

Get it jacked up properly and check the actual exhaust bracket. My VR used to make a loud grinding squeaking noise and it turned out it was this. It became worse with higher exhaust notes because of the vibration.

Ive been watching some videos on youtube of the track, its amazing how many people write their cars off within the first 20 seconds lol! e.g -http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=grb079bY-Gc

How much did you pay for your Koni coilovers craggsy? Cheapest Ive seen them for is about £850 for a kit. -
That mean your selling me the higline instead of the Dusty mauve one? The purple one was my very first VR Very attached to that motor lol Im actually quite scared now, all the excitement and planning you kinda forget how careful you have to be. I think im going to be a nervous wreck on the track, espeically with all the 300+ bhper's around.

Careful what you say James I may be putting my pride and joy in your hands within the next few weeks, hehe!

Ok well I will check out the camping website, I dont own a tent either though - last camping trip I went on was with my boyfriend and we ended up having pots dotted around the floor to catch leaking rain water! But I will see what the finances are like as it will be nice to be with everyone else. And also with the ferry and the tunnel, ill see which is cheaper when I come to book.
-
Im going to try and book ferry tickets at the end of the month - even though I HATE ferries, purely because of that disaster that happened a few years ago where the doors wern't shut properly...dont mean to scare anyone though lol Also might look into that Burgstube hotel?? If that's near the camping site. I dont know if I can live in a tent for 3 nights lol, im not hardcore like that :-P

Thank you. Are there any event pictures from the year before?
-
After reading up about it, I would definitley like to be put down as a probably! Its got to be done really. I was meant to be going away in March to Amsterdam for my yearly rave up which would've cost about the same, but I can put that on hold until November, much rather get the new VR on the track

They dont look too bad actually, easier on the wallet aswell! As opposed to Koni coilovers which is what I was going to save up for. -
Hi guys, Ive got a custom made dual back box , however I want to get a six branch s/s mani to go with it and Im not really sure what to do about the centre box. Do you think I should get that custom made aswell or get one from Magnex? I had a distinct sound with my old VR which I would love to get back on the highline - slowing down in 1st gear, it used to make a burbling noise almost like a scooby and sounded really throaty when I put my foot down. Im not sure whether that was caused by the dual back box or the actual centre box??
