Right, still having problems with this bloody heater matrix. My mechanic cannot seem to get the thing out at all, apparently he's taken all of the bolts he can out, he said he can get to the matrix easily but its just not budging. Are there any extra hidden bolts keeping it attached??

What exactly needs to come out? Its only really the bottom half of the dash, the centre console and one of the seats right?

Right, i think it's definitley the heater matrix. I drove home from work and let the car warm up - i put the heater on full and steam just poured out from the back of the dash! The water temp light was flashing aswell and I noticed the temp of the car was increasing quicker than normal, which is obviously down to the coolant leak. Gonna get the dash out tomorrow if I can and try and sort it with my dad without taking it to my mechanic.

Well i say smoke, it looks more like steam - its quite white and the odour of coolant is only around for a few seconds, there isnt a constant smell in the car. There's alot of condensation in the car aswell which I cant seem to get rid of. I havnt checked anything yet as it only really started yesterday afternoon and has seemed to have worsened this morning.

Yeah the smell im getting is probably coolant, it smells like stale water with a hint of detergent to be precise! This morning on the way to work, the temp got to about 100 degress because I was sitting in traffic for a while and I noticed there were whisps of smoke coming up from the steering column! When I got to work there was smoke coming out from the back of the dash aswell.

Hi all, Not sure if ive put this in the right section, dont know whether this is an electrical issue or what. Basically, I noticed this morning when I turned my heater up to full - there was a puff of smoke which came out of the heater vents. It stopped after a couple of seconds and there was a strange smell of plastic afterwards. I left it on for a few minutes and there was no more visible smoke, but my windscreen seemed to be getting coated with a smokey film, although I couldnt see anything coming out of the vents. Does anyone know what this is?

The look I wanted to go for was a like modern dub style, slammed but on big wheels with slightly rolled arches. Ive seen some very nice scirocco's and new mk6's that have inspired me.

Aaah right ok, seems like more hassle than it's worth really then, which is a bit of a shame - Ive seen some really nice mk3's on coilovers sitting on 18's, and that was the look I wanted to go for. Ill stick to 17's, cheaper aswell lol.

Yeah that's why i cant decide between 17's or 18's. I like the look of bigger rims, but if my performance is going to suffer from it then I guess Ill have to go smaller.

Ok, this is going to be a major moan thread so I apologise. I had some half blind old guy side swipe me yesterday in his big blue merc. Left some lovely scratches and some hefty scuff marks down the whole length of my poor car. I was in the left lane, noticed this big merc getting closer and closer to me, i braked but he just pulled into me as if I wasnt even there! Luckily I managed to polish most of the makrs out but there are still some deep scratches that wont be coming out until I get the car a blow-over at the bodyworks place in the summer :-( OAP's cause so many bloody accidents its un

I've decided to go for a modern twist with the exterior look of my VR, and found some very nice black gloss RS8 style rims which Im hoping to get at the end of this month. Trouble is, Ive got this perfect image in my head of what I want my car to look like, and what stance I want it to have, but I dont know whether I can pull it off. I cant decide between 17's or 18's...I havnt got coilovers yet, just springs and the car is lowered 40mm and It's sitting on some 17" porsche rims at the moment. I know most people will say get coilovers BEFORE I get my new rims, but my car does actually need new

My dad uses something called a Road Angel which warns you of speed cameras. After losing his license for 6 months because of speeding points, he never goes on any long journeys without it.

Noticed a problem with the VR, everytime I start it up I can hear a tapping noise from the engine bay. After about 30 seconds to a minute, the noise dies down and the engine sounds pretty smooth. The noise is worse in colder weather. Ive checked oil level which is fine, im guessing its either the lifters again (which were actually looked at about 6 months ago), or the start of something a bit more serious. Any ideas?

I managed to find this on ebay, and its the nicest smelling one ive had yet. Unfortunatley, its lost its smell and i cant find another one online, so it's just there for decoration now! Ive got the Black Ice xmas tree one now though hanging from my indicator.

Hi guys, Ive been having an ongoing problem with the VR for a couple of months now. When driving at higher speeds, the steering wheel would shake quite bad which I put down to a slightly bent rim (front driver side), it was also pull very hard to the right when I let go of the wheel. I went to a garage today who specialise in wheel alignment and tracking, waited half an hour whilst they did their thing and I was told whilst I was waiting that the tracking was pretty off. Got back in the car after paying 40 quid and its still pulling to the right. Steering doesnt feel as heavy, and it does fee

Lol!! I saw this the other day when I was having a little browse. Absolutley awful, who would do such a thing to a golf? Keep the ugly body kits and cheap interiors to the saxo's and pugs!

Bump! Got it done finally, well - didnt get the snakebites but i got one side done. After my piercer drew the dots on my lip it kinda sank in that i was getting my lip pierced so i kinda backed out of getting both sides done. Im liking just the one at the moment though Might go back once this one has healed. Eating is a b*tch and its pretty swollen today but i love it

Right, last night i was driving home and hit an almighty pothole which I didnt see. The force was so strong that it caused my cd to skip for a few seconds, it was a really loud bang. Driving back home and everything seemed normal, but this morning the front right tyre is flat. Not pancake flat but getting there. Obviously im going to need a new tyre but the nasty sound of hitting that pothole has made me think that something else is damaged. The suspension seems fine, are there any other little things that could've gone kaput because of this pothole?
