Im in Crawley, but my location says West Sussex - ill change it so it's a bit more specific :-P

Is this the GTI 16v you're going to get? They're pretty rare to come by now so for 700.00 that's an unbelievable bargain. I had a 16v GTI for about a week before I got the VR6 (completely changed my mind and had to have a VR ) And I managed to sell it on for 1300.00 and it had 160,000 miles on the clock. So for 700 quid, Id be looking into things very, very carefully!

Ok thanks, that's interesting to know. I was with Sabre Insurance but Swinton were the brokers. I dont have any of my documents from them because I when I requested to cancel it I threw away everything, because as far as I was concerned my policy was cancelled and there wasnt a claim made against me because I wasnt told! I then got insurance out with another company on 7th July because I thought Swinton had cancelled my policy, but they obviously didnt! Which is part of the reason why I am in this mess.

Oh thank you! That would be a big help :-P

Well they're not getting a single penny from me. Im going to milk it so bad and dispute it every way I can. Even if it means going to the doctor with "stress" that this has all caused me im going to be the worst customer lol. The fact that when I cancelled my policy, I wasnt informed of a claim made against me. They should've told me that if i was to cancel the policy, then I would have to pay outstanding amounts. So that's mis-representation. I hope i get it sorted too I cant handle situations like this very well, I get so panicky!

Thanks for the advice. It's my word against hers anyway, and you'd think my insurance company would do all they could to not pay out. Im also going to dispute the fact that my insurance policy was not cancelled when I originally asked for it to be. When i said that I had found a cheaper insurance company, the guy on the other end of the phone was trying his best to keep me a customer and said he would get some more quotes for me. Even though I specifically said I couldnt afford it and wanted it cancelled. He ignored my request, so my premium then went up to the £2,157 a year which is ridicu

So just a decent remap would be needed after the fitting? Im saving up for my schrick and dont particularly want to be dissapointed after spending £1500+ :-P

Right guys, im really hoping someone can give me some advice because im stuck in a rut here and have no idea what to do. Back in June this year, I took out insurance for my VR6. About a month of taking out the insurance, I had a little bump where I went up the back of a vauxhall vectra at about 2mph, causing a little dent in the bumper of the car I had hit. The woman said she was fine and that she was taking her car to the scrappers because she has just brought a new car so told me not to worry about it. Anyway, I called my insurers up and informed them of the accident, as you do. A week late

Even my mechanic is puzzled...
Miss-Vw replied to Miss-Vw's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
Thanks for the suggestions guys. Turned out to be the ignition coil. Had to call out an electrican who fixed the problem in about an hour and half, my mechanic had the car for 4 days and still cahrged me £130..and didnt even fix it. Wont be going back to him again. Still running a little bit rough and its still getting hot quite quickly, but it's now driveable :S -
Classic mini? TINY and cute? Either that or the KA

Well if there's anyone on here that's good with electrics and wiring who doesnt mind having a go?! lol
-
No my mechanic has admitted he doesnt know much about electrics so if we are going to fix it, we want it to go to an auto electrician who actually knows what he's doing. This 1.4 has a bit of a sentimental value lol so we dont really want to scrap it!

Im talking about a complete rewire though, all of the wiring behind the dash needs replacing aswell.

Had a bit of bad luck with my boyfriends mk3 golf 1.4 :S Turns out it needs a new wiring loom and all new wiring in the engine bay, due to the new ignition barrel not being terminated properly. All the wire is basically frazzled, does anyone knows how much this is going to cost? My mechanic said its a big job and would probably take 1-2 days to do! Any ideas on pricing?

This thread is quite interesting actually. My debt consists of a £1,750 loan that I got out last year to go towards my first VR6. Then got a small credit card with a £500 limit, didnt really intend on using it until I lost my job early in the year and lived off of it which was a bad idea! I was planning on topping up my loan after xmas this year for another £3k which would fund my Schrick investment, but considering I managed to save up just over £1k in 2 months, Im just trying to save up now as much as I can instead of getting into more debt. I always pay my insurance monthly which is u

As the title says, even my mechanic and his electrician cannot work this out. It's not a vr6 issue, its with my mk3 1.4 that ive been using as a run around - but i hope someone can still help! Coming back from Brighton the other night on the A23, revs went from about 3,500 down to nothing in a second and the car started dying and I had to pull over. Tried to start it and it just wasnt turning over. Luckily we had breakdown cover, so after an hour and 40 minutes of waiting in the cold on the A23...we were rescued. The rotary arm was burnt down to a stump! Got it to my mechanics and he fitted i

Miss-Vw replied to anna's topic in Previous Events
I might try and see if I can make this one. Would be my first show as a vr6 owner Kent isnt far from me either. -
Im only 20 and Im about 2.5k in debt, loan and credit card. Everything's under control though, I just wish I was more patient and just saved! Having said that, If I had gone to Uni, I would probably be around the 15k mark by now.

Symptoms of a worn front engine mount
Miss-Vw replied to Rikki's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
Sounds like it to me, my engine mount snapped the other week on the 1.4, engine was hanging about an inch off of the ground and I got the same sort of clunk you are experiencing when I changed gear and pressed the clutch down. I'd get it jacked up and have a look if any of the bolts are loose or non-existent! My engine mount was spot welded by some numpty in the past and the actual bolts snapped in half. -
Tapping noise when cold??
Miss-Vw replied to Danny Salling's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
Vr's drink oil so might be worth giving it some fresh stuff. -
Aaah right ok, learn something new every day Nope, no noises or anything. It just feels harder to push down compared to my purple vr6 which is alot softer.
-
Ive noticed in the highline that the clutch pedal feels quite stiff to press. There is no trouble getting it into gear and there are no vibrations or anything like that. Would this be the clutch cable?

Ah cool thanks. I would rather get carbon fibre bits made up properly but I have no idea how much that would cost. Wrapping is the cheaters way round, but also the cheapest! And im on a budget so will probably have to stick to wrapping.
