  1. Drive shaft is the wrong length. Be it because it is the wrong shaft or something is out of shape - I don't know.
  2. Thats because one is a bosch number and the other is a VAG number.
  3. Some kind of hardware failure, could be cam position sensor.
  4. Fault codes are stored in the ECU even when it has power removed. There is no such thing as limp home mode on the VR6. Have the codes read out of the ECU and go from there.
  5. What are your reasons for wanting to do this?
  6. You have the wrong ETKA diagram. The one you have is for a 2wd car. The 4wd diagram shows none of the parts that you mention and you are only missing the bolt in the centre of the shaft that holds it in, The part number of the bolt is: 097 409 359 Push the shaft back into the gearbox, put this bolt down the hole you can see in the middle of it, and do it up. Put everything back in place that you have removed and your car is fixed.
  7. It can be more involved than that depending on the year of your car. The wiring is also different manual/auto.
  8. As I said about he wont be able to do it. You options are to recode a new black box to the car or have the immobiliser turned off in the ECU(not something alarm fitters can do) but constant jump starting will eventually destroy the info in the ECU.
  9. I dont doubt that there is an after market alarm/immobiliser fitted, but the part that has failed on your car is fitted from the factory, your car has a factory immobiliser The fact that it starts then cuts off shows the the after market one is doing its job (dis arming when you ask it to)
  10. He wont be able to, this is a OE part, not an aftermarket unit.
  11. Immobilizer black box is dead (from constant jump starting)
  12. Buy it, just make sure that you get all the right bits. Take the front cross member too. Is it dizzy or coil pack? Which version of 2.8 do you have?
  13. Just to clear some of this up, the differences between the 2.8 and 2.9 are: Bore / pistons Compression ratio Cams Inlet manifold Exhaust manifolds Throttle body ECU . They share the same ECU per revision, just the software is changed. ie 258CH and 258CP is the same ECU, just the software is different. So when converting, you don't actually need to change the ECU. When comparing 2.8 to 2.9 be sure that you have a REAL 2.9 as these appear to be rare these days.
  14. If you want to make a 7:1 compression engine then yes.
  15. Is the ECU operating in closed loop lambda control on idle? Check this by looking at block 99 on measuring blocks in VC.
  16. Even though some of them might not share the same part number, the parts you mention are interchangeable between the 12 and 24 valve
  17. No its not' date=' the tester is allowed to poke a suspect area with his finger and thumb, only then if not satisfied can he use the MOT approved corrosion assessment tool which is a small plastic hammer.
  18. Does the car have coil pack or distrubuter? How many wires are on the loom that go to the MAF? How many wires on the throttle body plug?
  19. They are incompatible with each other, one is for a distrubuter/5 wire MAF the other is for coil pack/4 wire MAF.
