Hello, Ive just started rebuilding my VR, Its a 1997 model obd2, and from ive read on hear it is an obd2 engine but its got twin chains which I thought where only fitted on the older obd1 models? Is that right? Also Ive hurd you can swap the chains over and convert it to single chains, Is this right and is it worth doing?? Cheers for your help
  7. Yep thats shocking, Im lucky because my mates love the VR and if ive got no money to fuel it then they will slap some petrol in the tank so we can go for a drive. I just hope they dont go and by a fast car themself
  8. Your right, I think his trying to cover up some rust Do you think those wishbone plates are to protect the the driveshafts??
  9. Sorted then! Ive had alook at that mod and its good but for the price of a B&M I wouldnt bother with the hassle of all the fabrication
  10. If I get a unit sorted out ill probaly start doing them for around the £500 mark, Wouldn't fancy doing it outside in the crap english weather tho, Does killokilla come to you and do it on your drive???

  12. I prefer that one. looks like it protects more of the engine. What have you got on your wishbones, Have you added that your self. Im thinking about making a compleat cover plate to stop all the crap getting in my smoothed engine bay. Like they have on the alfers

  18. Ive just hurd that non of the mk3 of any age are galvanised. I hurd that off VW brain from VW performance. Best thing you can do if buy a mint one, Even though the rust didnt look very bad atall on my rear archs ive ended up putting 2 new rear quaters on my car as the rust had traved past the lip, so it was just vissible. Because of this it made it hard to chop out the rust and fabricate new metal in there, I would put new wings on if there rusty as rust returns
  19. Dealer cost about £1500, There a block on hear that does it for like £500, Im going to do mine myself, £200 parts
  20. I dont realy understand what your saying tbh. Oils got a higher boiling point because its thicker I would think and under more pressure. But both are around the same temputer Im starting to feel thick now, what does +1 mean???

  22. Ummmm well fair play, Ive just been told not to do it as cold water in a overheated engine is a bad idea. I wouldn't risk it tbh. I donno about 2 Pints comment about oil been the first line of cooling and the coolant cools the oil?? Sure thats not right. Oils to lubricate, Coolant to cool
