  1. if it comes uder barnet, the council are actually qiutegood, they actully took out a load of speed humps a couple of years ago, as they were causing too much damage to local residents cars!! i persnally dont think the flat will appeciate as much as the house, if you take a rising market out of he equation for the whole period that you own it, then in 4 years you will have had a lot more oportunity to put in a new kitchen, extension, internal decor, whereas a new build al bells and whistles flat wont really require any work in the next 3 to 4 years. also the new build boys are eally struggling
  2. hey guys, i was hoping my radiator would hold up a few weeks so that i could do it the same time as the hoses that are on the group buy at the moment, but its starting to seem fairly unlikely. So was just wondering id there is anywhere pple recommend, ideally not too far from east london cheers.
  3. you need top mounts, front and rear, and as long as you dont drop it silly the ride is fine, and at 140+ when you still have the confidence to carry on going you wont worry so much about the ride at lower speeds, the car drives like how v.w should have made it, and not like the titanic changing direction.
  4. hi there mate and welcome to the site, firstly i very strongly recommend that in future you dont let any garage carry out any work on your car without checking over it yourself, otherwise believe me you will very quickly spend another £1500. firstly find out how high the emmisions were to cause the failure, has the car had an oil service, how old are your spark plugs? air filter? all this basic stuff is where you need to start.
  5. looking at the 2 locations youre right the fields do make you a bit more vulnerable, having said that theiving scum are normally very opportunistic, so the alarm will hopefully act as enough of a deterrant when they see it, and they will simply move on to the next house that doesnt have an alarm, having said that, you will still have that factor there when youre on your hols for example, the olny real way to put your mind at ease is to physically go round to the nieghbors, tell em you may be buying this place, and have a few concerns regarding security, and if there miserable, you probably don
  6. hi matey, dont want to sound like im at the office but always always the house if its going to be your primary residence, heres a few points to maybe help influence you. 99 year lease, lenders are very sceptical about lending on anything with less then 75 odd years on a lease, so for re-financing or selling you will probably have to get the period extended by your freeholder, he or she will then squeeze you for as much as possible, as you wont be able to do anything without a longer lease. flat never has the same privacy as a house the house has potential for you to improve and add to with an
  7. the car will be more bumpy the lower you take it, simply because you are putting more pressure on your components, so its on new suspension, but do you have new bushes, ARB's all round, its all part of seup.
  8. yeah if your going to to the thermostat, u might as well order the fan switch from them also, and while your dong all that you might as well make sure that all your pipes are good, if not there may be a group buy on here going on real soon, that shuld have her running nice and cool!! 8-|
  9. hey nick, good to see u here again, hope all is well with you, oh yeah and thanks for the coolest steering wheel on any vr6!!!!!
  10. try gfs for the bits mate, make sure you ask for the "o" rings that go with the housing, but plastic bits are all the same, and i think you will find its a lot cheaper,
  11. well it depends mate, on how mint his, your cars are, if they are both pretty much standard, the bmw is still 300cc down on power and weighs more than your car.
  12. yeah not all, but 99% of b.m.w drivers are idiots, i think they expect respect coz they drive a b.m
  13. yeah, well done matey, feels fantastic when you pick up a bargain, i got something similar recently, left mine all silver coz i want it as o.e.m. as poss.
  14. jim your gonno have to excuse my ignorance here matey, but its not something ive ever looked into before, so were talking about either a spacer or wossner pistons?
  15. Few months ago the guy at gfs told me Silver Synta was being replaced by Fuchs, I foolishly took his word for it, but i noticed last week that t.p.s. still sell the synta, so anybody on here aware of any benifits of one or the other, though ill probably stick with the fuchs as its cheap and cheerfull, so i can justify doing an oil change more frequently, and top it up with some lucas every time.
  16. few of these types of things popping up now, we may be on the brink of a £1000 turbo frenzy, bit sceptical about putting this on my daily driver, but maybe on a project soon to be started!!! also jim if you got a sec look over this and advise me as to how complete/incomplete this kit looks, cheers matey http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/VW-GOLF-CORRADO-VR6-V6-12V-TURBO-KIT-T3T4-MANIFOLD-CAST_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp3286Q2em14Q2el1318QQhashZitem350081579751QQitemZ350081579751
  17. wouldnt it have been a better option to simply take the hit in the frist place and uhhhm...not informing these pain in the ass theivivg scummy insurers anyway, that way your car would have been done, nobody would have been none the wiser, and you could stop using that car park?
  18. I would also reommend that you do the chain as well matey, especially if your not doing the work yourself, my chain actually blew, caused serious head damage, 7 bent valves e.t.c, so you'lle be really gutted if that happens, and it'll then cost you a hell of a lot more to fix again.
  19. in answer to your question i believe venom do some uprated top mounts, but by "uprated" all that is is the actual rubber moulding is 15mm less in length, thus allowing you to have your car 15mm lower, so if you've got the FK high-sport or konig-sport kit, it will allready adjust upto -90 mm. Its good practice to change the top mounts, ive jus done mine and the front mounts and bearing kit from vw is about £40:00, the rear's, are actually about 11 pieces per side, including all the associated washers and bearings and stuff and were £60:00, so unless your running some 14" rims, id suggest putti
