bit girly giving your car a name, but i think its the way forward!!!

very good point matey, so next time round lets all go vote for the opposition and get these, idiotic, moronic, mumbling, bumbling fools out of power!!! if not in 5 years, when everything inside the m25 is incremented congestion charge, all major motorways are pay as you drive, and petrol os £2:00 a litre.....don't say you werent warned about it on vr6oc.com!!!!!!
-
yeah the sound is completely different in the t.d.i, but this becomes the same as the exhaust conundrum, i want to go quickly, not be heard for 2 miles. i wouldnt hold on to the vr to just use every now and then, id rather it went to a good home. but as rcf said, the torque in these things is phenomenal!!!

how much can a vr6 engine take?
vr6newcomer replied to H13VYY's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
if any car is serviced regularly and looked after it will do megamiles, but it also depends on how mechanichally sympathetic you are. i didnt but a vr6 to pootle around in i love pulling onto the north circular road and hitting 5000 rpm in 3rd gear, but never before the oil is upto 80 degrees. having said that you must bare in mind that when you are thrashing a car, all the individual components are taking more of a battering, suspension, exhaust, brakes, so if your constantly caning it, the car will need regular maintenance. -
mine seems to run crap on anything but v-power now, its what the shell fuel is called now, im getting upto about 2 tanks a week , i never felt it so much before, but now its getting pathetic. but fundamentally we are all driving big 2.8's for the power no? well a mk4 pd t.d.i 150 with a chip will have a standard vr playing catch up all the way to about 120, and maybe im just getting a bit old, but in and around london you never get upto those sort of speeds anyhow. meanwhile the guy in the tdi's laughing at you coz he's still doing about 45 mpg, and im looking for the nearest bloody shell!!!!

what engine oil do you use?
vr6newcomer replied to badboygolfvr6's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
you cant get silver synta any more, its called fuchs oil, thats what gfs stock now. last change i also put in some lucas friction treatment, not sure about next time tho just due to the extra oil i top up every 1000 or so miles -
There seems to be alot of hate for the mk3????
vr6newcomer replied to Phat VR6's topic in General Chat
33 mpg??? thats fantastic dude, i rarely get more than 20 mpg's.. the VR is a fantastic all round car, the build quality and fit of panels and stuff is far superior to any jap tin. Relating to the first point, im probably going to change the VR soon for a mk4 TDI, 130, as im doing maybe £100:00 a week of v-power. As for the haters they can all kiss my v powered exhaust fumes to 150 mph... -
hey dude, didn't mean no offence to your caddy, im sure its a real classic, me and a mate (montevr6) will hopefully be getting a vr into his old mk2 this summer) but the fact of the matter is that point to point upto 100, possibly 120 miles an hour, theres nothing between the vr and a tdi, also ive been doing a bit of research and now there are a load of hybrid turbo's for the t.d.i.'s and all sorts.
-
yeah well the problem is that i am obviously used to a certain amount of power, and im too old to be driving around in some old piece of crap doing 5 mph while blowing the road up. the 130 going to be the way methinks, with the giac chip.
-
i appreciate what your saying there al, but as we can see from the general reaction here, the fact of the matter is 20 mpg is bloody prehistoric consumption, a chipped 130 pd is a bloody quick car. and i tried running mine on 95 ron last month, like pete said, it just runs crap.
-
Should be a cool car pete, hopefully seeing your project will kickstart me and monte into doing his old mk2 soon!!

I am sure you have all noticed the recent increases in fuel cost's, i am currently paying about 111.00 for a litre of v-power. My car is a daily driver and fuel is my second biggest cost after my mortgage!!! Now i never expected my VR to be particularly economical, but over the last 10,000 miles, i have never managed to get my average speed on the 2000 mile trip counter over about 23mph ( i'm still fairly proud as i believe govenrment figures for average speed in london state about 6 mph) Now bearing the above in mind i started to look up figure's on mk4 p.d t.d.i's, these engines in 130bhp
-
hey robin, not that much of a bad idea with the fuel prices.

no problem andy, i'll try and make up the 0.4 bhp soon, my exhaust is on the way out anyhow, but i was building a bit more torque than your's!!!! -
i changed the oil about 3k miles ago, put in a litre of lucas oil treatment also, its like a honey consistency, since then i need to be over 130 to get the temp over 100. it cost's about £18:00 a litre, but is well worth it, ill be using it again for the next oil change and will see how hot it gets in warmer ambient conditions, at the moment it very rarely goes over 90 in normal driving, i.e. mostly below 100.

hi guys, apologies for not being around for a few days, i was a bit busy, i have no problem with hoddy on any sunday, if we have the 12 cars here allready, i am fairly certain i can make up the rest of the numbers, i have the following cars confirmed: 1, my VR 2, monte vr6's s/c 3, 96 VR 4, Focus st03 5, E36 M3 smg 6, Audi s5 and another couple of maybes, so if we are close to the twenty we can sort out a date. -

To be optimax or not to be!
vr6newcomer replied to tompo1979's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
yeah optimax was replaced by v.power about a year or so ago, i only ose that, its much smoother up and down the power, about 101 p inn the cheaper shells in london.
