  1. 97P plate sitting at 136k, chains, headgasket done at 126662 miles, dont ask why i remember that figure tho
  2. They just pop out of the surround
  3. Glad its home, albeit in more than one piece. You done a proper job there, on the bright side she fairly hauled ass prior to the bump

    interior

Id say thats fair seeng as the 3dr a pillars are obsolete and the "highline"/vento raised console is £70 on its own
  5. Really nice car mate, im a big fan of the 3,5 cab, and thats exactly the spec i would look for too!!
  6. i may have dribbled a bit too!!! LOL Diesel exhaust is basically twin hidden tip pipes, pointing directly towards the ground
  7. Iys not just the stretch, the rear bumper is a US spec one and loads bigger than a euro item, amd i really need 8s as a minimum because of that. After taking the D90s off and fitting the LMs i knew then it was a bad idea to buy them, the D90s looked 100 times better
  8. TH Lines, oh i think i just done a sex wee
  9. They were going to be re furbed with a mirror polished lip and Porsche seal grey centres and would have looked stunning, dont get me wrong if i could get 8x17" LMs i would have them The reason they look pants on my car is they are only 7" wide, and i can space them out but wont be able to get the stretch that im after with the tyres!! ZW1s i have always lusted after, i hope they look ok when fitted up

    Gutted

I am totally gutted, have had some 17" BBS LMs lined up for my car for months, arranged the refurb the lot, then got a trial fitting of them tonight and............ they looked pants, too narrow only being 7" wide and coming from 8" D90s it looks totally wrong!! So i have a dilemma, i tried some ZW1s that were waiting to be fitted to a C vr6, and they looked loads better, but does anyone know if they will be ok on std front arches and rolled rears??
  11. Gutted for you mate, such a shame to see such a nice car ruined. Anyways i look forward to seeing it rise from the ashes
  12. I have never used DSG but a friend bought a mk5 R32 when they were first released with DSG and fought with VW to replace or take he car dack because of the gearbox, he says when it works its amazing, but when it doesnt its downright dangerous. It would not select gears at roundabouts and then bang away it would go when it felt like it, and when pulling away from a rolling start it would drop down then just lose all drive leaving you to freewheel into sometimes dangerous situatins, Not sure if any others on here with DSG have had that prob tho
  13. Mates old boy has a mk3 20vt was one of the first in the country to use full vag looms etc. The engine physically fits in no problem, like has been mentioned before its the wiring thats the problem, and iirc the octavia runs a 6 speed box, im not 100 percent sure if this will pose a problem, but i dont think it will seeing as its FWD. You will need a down pipe and fabricate a custom intercooler, if i were you i would speak to mr Leach at QPE as he is the man in the know for 20v swaps and i believe he now does downpipes etc off the shelf for certain 20vt swaps
  14. Dont scrimp on the lower tensioner, your in that far be false economy to re use the old one, as mentioned above they are pretty cheap, about 30 quid from memory
  15. That is your cooling fan circuit control box, not sure what the 5 amp fuse is for tho
  16. I remember seeing spy shots of the R36 last year, Had lambo wheels IIRC and looked absolutely amazing far better than this test mule pictured. The engine is a basically a new larger block but still the traditional VR layout and i cant see why it was a passat only engine as the current passat range uses the same engines as the golf laidout in the same transvesrse way as the Golf whereas previous Passat engines were longitudally mounted
  17. That rust is nowhere near bed enough to carry out cutting arches, in fact doing that will probably make matters worse in the long run, the quarters will need to be painted regardless
  18. Its possible, but will need modifications, the mk2 rear runners are closer than they are on the mk3, so the rear two runners on each seta will either have to be stretched to fit, cut and re welder or mk3 subframes fittrf to the mk2 seats
  19. Go for 30 mm or 35 mm adaptors, i run 8x16 D90s with 25mm at the rear and 7x16s at the front and TBH i aint keen on how the fronts sit, too far in and they run a 50 odd mm offfset, I had some of them 928s after i sold my comps in 8" all round unfotunately one was tarnished and couldnt be polished so i sold them on, really stunning wheel when they are polished up
  20. There is no danger id take the cheaper option mate, leave the arches for another year and you will regret it, and like someone said previously whats the point in putting coilovers on a rust bucket?? I paid a grand to get my car done last year, that was fitting the cab front, smoothing both bumpers, de badging and de wipering the tailgate, but that was in a homer from my mate who is a painter/panel beater at the local VW bodyshop, £1400 seems very good but insist that all windows have at the veryleast got lifting tape for the seals and all trim is removed
  21. That works for me. TT Comps look better on a Vento than they do a Golf i think. It looked superb in the burgundy colour too!!
  22. Im 99.9% positive they will, my mate has 312mm discs on his mk3 16v with 16"BBS RX2s and they have less clearance than a regular single piece wheel. Ans the 4 motion came with 16s as standard
