  1. It needs rear wheel bearings, a serpentine belt idler and tensioner pulley and boost is leaking out of the water injection boss as the thread is stripped! Not to mention the amount of bloody water that is flooding into the car every time it rains. Oh and the mapping needs looking at. It may all be done by January so I may come along and see if I am able to run it on the day.
  2. Sorry Im not going to be attending. I cant justify another £100 to see that there is another problem!
  3. 500hp with just boost isnt that difficult, where as 650hp with ONLY boost is much more difficult yes? So its not as if its ground breaking having just 500hp. I know very few people who will run Nitrous on the rollers also.
  4. The charger itself is the pump Im not sure that there is a great deal of pressure in the system. I cant remember what the hose was rated to. It was reinforced, probably similar to engine pressure,
  5. Yeah, I dont see MPG on my MAF with the Emerald but to be honest I dont want to see it! Forget cruise control you will never use it.
  6. Yeah from all accounts. Will most likely attempt the swap myself in the new year. Providing I get all the bits together Andy at Storm reckons it will only take a weekend. I think you have to be fairly mechanically capable though. Using standalone management does away with the lambda and drive-by-wire issues.
  7. You can pay between £800 - £1500 for an engine. You will need an Alfa throttle setup and a front engine mount. Apart from that its fairly easy, especially if you go standalone.
  8. Fit the R32 engine but run it on standalone. R32 is good for 500hp without internal mods with a Rotrex.
  9. Clean the block really well and make sure it free from rust etc. Then ensure its completely dry.
  10. I think acrylic cans are £5ish and cellulose mixed ones are £14ish.
  11. The silver was just out of an acrylic rattle can might be an audi silver cant be sure. No primer or lacquer. I have to say its not that durable especially if you have to take the box off etc. The block took a day to clean and prep and another day to paint but I was really rushing it. You can go to Halfords and get them to mix you cellulose. You paint code will be on a barcoded stickeron both the front page of your handbook and also in the boot under the carpet to left normally of the spare wheel well. I used a compressor to apply the cellulose. A spray can will be almost as good though. Just d
  12. It was a shame to use it really! [lightbox=../../e107_files/public/1195252410_2749_FT206574_tims_camera_094.jpg][/lightbox] [lightbox=../../e107_files/public/1195252410_2749_FT206574_tims_camera_112.jpg][/lightbox]
  13. Its paint you can buy in most paint shops. Halfords mix it and can either put it in a spray or tin so you can blow it yourself. Most ready mixed tins are acrylic which is fine for the box but for the block use cellulose. I primed, coloured and then lacquered mine. Its still got a very good finish 2 years on. Just make sure you give the paint time to go off before you run the engine.
  14. When I fitted my headgasket recently my timing was out by one tooth! I lost almost 200hp and it took a couple of weeks to diagnose it! Its really amazing how much difference one tooth makes.
  15. Just use cellulose and dont forget preperation is paramount. [lightbox=../../e107_files/public/1195245773_2749_FT206574_tims_camera_110.jpg][/lightbox]
  16. Adding an LSD will therefore add further stress due to reduced wheel spin.
  17. Yeah its mad, It will even go to 24-25PSI now that Ive done the headgasket! I would say its close to 500HP but I will find out at the Corrado RR day at Stealth. Its insanely quick, it will spin the wheels in the wet at 100mph in 4th!
  18. Mines been fine for 1500 miles and its just clocked over 125,000 miles. I know it doesn't have to cope with turbo torque but its not far off.
  19. E-TORX (inverted torx) most likely for head bolts been a few years since Ive seen a standard one so not 100% sure. Possibly E12. Driveshaft bolts are M10 triple square drive I think.
  20. If you want the option in the future to run more power you can witha Rotrex. The chargers alone though are £2000. The minimum I have seen run is 10PSI which was about 310bhp. You will need in addition to the kit either a charge/intercooler or water injection. You can run standard internals but the first thing to go will be the headgasket. I would also recommend ARP headstuds. You can buy 100,90,80,75,70 and even 68mm pulleys. However you can probably get anything machined for your needs. After 10-12PSI its forged pistons etc and loads more money. The headgasket on mine started to leak after r
  21. Choose your charger carefully, if you go for a Vortech and get bored with 270-290bhp, which does happen, getting anymore will need a different approach and normally means starting over from scratch. As Chris above has said dont cut corners on quality otherwise reliability will suffer.
  22. 1200kgs is what Im going to aim for. Im going to take the seats and carpet out in the morning just to see where my water leak is!
