  1. Take the sump off mate, bit of a fiddle but its the lesser of the 2 evils!
  2. I have the DR cams and they are an exact copy of the Schrick 268s and I can highly recommend them. The surge at 4000rpm is even more so with a charger.
  3. Its more hassle if you have aircon piping too. Vin is just allowing for worst case scenario Iwould have thought.
  4. Storm have a twin Rotrex R32 now, its a bit of a beast circa 650bhp!
  5. They are much better than standard, very precise throw. I found I had to unbolt the handbrake lever and remove all the trim around the gearstick just to get the pin out! Im not sure I would buy from Demon dweebs either, always too pricey! Try Strictly Dubs, they also have an ebay shop.
  6. I have just done a rough estimation on what I have spent and its around the £9000 mark! and thats with me doing everything except mapping and machining.
  7. I rebuilt the engine with only the very best components, ARP bolts throughout, Forged rods and pistons, everything has been balanced as an assembly and the flywheel is less than 4 kilos. Basically it should be bullet proof, but only time will tell! Andy and Miles at Storm Developments are two of the most knowledgable guys I have come across in the VW scene. I would recommend them to anyone who wants the very best. The choice between turbo or supercharger was very simple for me. The delivery is similar but with the Rotrex there is loads of power low down and the power curve gets steeper as the
  8. The trouble is now that the car is lethal! It is so much quicker than with the Vortech its scary. The charge cooler makes so much difference, so each pound of boost equates to that much more power. As I said before I dont have time to look at the boost gauge before I run out of road.
  9. Check out that power curve! [lightbox=../../e107_files/public/1188165627_2749_FT139729_125.jpg][/lightbox]
  10. No its at the wheels. I will post the graph somehow.
  11. Looking at the graph it is actually 277.9BHP @ 3941 RPM @ the wheels. The estimated flywheel figure is 370.5BHP @ 3941 RPM. So I believe the torque figure is correct but the estimation a coincidence.
  12. The problem I had is that the rollers would only read to 370 for both power and torque and that occured at 3941 RPM the torque is wrong for sure though, although it will be very high because the way the charger works. It is running 20PSI but is impossible to confirm because there is so much else to think about!!
  13. Car: Golf mk3 Highline 2931cc 12v VR6 engine (OBD2), car 124,000 miles, engine 6,500 miles Mods: 83mm JE forged pistons, standard compression. Scat Forged connection rods. 14. I dont run with one most of the year
  15. I had mine mapped at Storm Developments yesterday and only saw 96 max and thats without a cooler and 20 PSI of boost. Will have to see how it runs in traffic but even driving home it never went over 94. I run a standard thermostat too.
  16. Put me down for the Saturday if there is still space please.
  17. You can buy the mushrooms from Think Auto.
  18. If you phone Matt at QEP on 01444 243720 he may be able to tell you or he might offer to get it done for you. Who ever bores it will need a piston and the data sepecially if they are forged pistons.
  19. The reason I asked is because when I was running mine It never went over 66, so I removed it, even when I covered the cooler itself it only went up to 72 which is still to cold! Maybe I had a dodgy thermostatic controller. May try again with a new thermostat. I am likely to see 108+ when I run 20+psi of boost so will need to get something sorted.
  20. What oil temps are people seeing with their coolers fitted?
  21. Very interested, dont mind where so long as its not too far up North!
  22. Yeah I mounted mine passenger side as you mentioned. Used the mounting bracket to suspend the cooler from the inner wing on one side.
