  1. Or in our very own parts and accessories for sale section there are a few mk3's being broken, one of them must have a motor.
  2. I believe those are updated VW parts fitted to the later engines and recommended when doing replacement on an earlier one.
  3. I've just looked and the leads are Beru ones, they have a metal sleeve/cap on the plug end - I can't see why you'd need a tool so maybe these aren't standard leads (they are red though so I assumed they were). With the manifold removed, they look reasonably accessible. *Edit* I've done a bit of searching and the Beru leads seem to be the OEM leads, so these might as per standard spec. I guess you'd need the tool to remove the lead through the access holes in the VW manifold so it looks like I probably just don't need one afterall. Better order some plugs in that case...
  4. Actually, just checking - do I need one with a Schrick? or are the tops of the leads accessible by hand with the manifold off?
  5. Thanks Pete that's just what I was looking for.
  6. My car had it's Schrick fitted when I bought it and came with the old manual etc. Is there a weblink to a fitting manual for the Schrick manifold, or a guide maybe somewhere? I want to know how it installs so I can see what's needed to change the plugs and check it's working properly etc. I can't even find the Schrick website although I think it's a .de
  7. I've PM'd zerocool but I won't hold my breath then if he's not on often. I might just go for one I saw on eBay for about £20 which is metal or GSF and order the plugs at the same time.
  8. 81k here, only had it 7 months though not put much on it.
  9. I want to change the plugs on mine soon and will need to buy a tool to remove the leads as it wasn't with the car when I bought it. Any suggestions on where to get? cheap but functional would be good!
  10. Yeah, the aircon's a problem if you want to feed cold air from the front. You're either stuck with using a short pipe in replacement of the right angle piece to the front wing or working on something with some larger ducting, but flattened to maintain as much cross section as possible to feed from the front. I'm currently looking for some suitable ducting to try this down the side of the radiator although I haven't had much time to look at it on detail. I think the grommet on the inner wing is just for positioning, as I seem to remember being able to reach round it. I think it's just a moun
  11. I'd check the lambda sensor, it sounds like mixture to me. Or it could be an injector, is it smooth through the rest of the range?
  12. Definately K&N, they were the only manufacturer either willing or able to state their filtration efficiency to be as good as or better than the OEM part. I contacted the major ones prior to my purchase (not jsut for panel filters) and either got no reply's or got "sorry we don't have that sort of info..." or "it will hold a lot of dirt before it gets full" or "it definately flows a lot more air".. you get the picture. K&N's filter better than the factory paper units. If you want a bit more power and "tunes" from you intake but keeping it fairly standard, remove the cone from the upper
  13. Ah, didn't realise - sorry. I guess I was lucky enough to get the premium membership while it was available. In that case, host it off-site somewhere free like photobucket and put the link inside image tags created by clicking that tree button.
  14. Purring engines are always a welcome sound.
  15. At the bottom of the post section it says "file to attach", browse to picture location and select picture. Then post..
  16. (Quantam)Synta Silver is what they left the factory with, and the fully synthetic is the next step up - both available from your local VW dealership. Actually, the silver isn't badly priced either, that's what I run on. If your engine is nice and tight and you can afford it, go with a fully synthetic and your hydraulic followers will thank you for it. Remember to flush first is going from a semi.
  17. I know, stripped all the wax off my car yesterday and switched to a paint sealant instead in preparation. Wanted to get that done before the event, not moved house still so had to do it while dodging traffic! :0 Still got the bumpers to do as it decided to rain, but I'm most of the way there.
  18. Yeah looks nice and tidy, also love the wheels.
  19. Welcome Matt. Try posting in "Engine and tuning" and give as much of a description of the problem as possible. Also as much info on the car as you can, e.g. 96 golf, any modifications, last service etc.
  20. Waterless wash? Or just drive it up to Leicester and wash it there!
  21. Unfortunately I don't have their contact details as it's our buyers solicitors. Our solicitor hasn't had any calls or faxes returned for 3 days now, we're trying to prompt our buyers to keep chasing them. So frustrating!
  22. Love the wheels too. I'd love some like that, but alas the cash department is reporting heavy losses for this fiscal quarter. Very nice overall.
